Martin Petrov, Sylvinho and Benjani are senior players who will leave City this summer.

All three are out of contract and free to negotiate deals at new clubs.

Each has made a noteworthy contribution during their time at the City of Manchester Stadium and the club wishes them well in their futures.

Bulgarian winger Petrov arrived during Sven-Goran Eriksson’s reign and despite being cursed by injury managed 57 starts for the Blues.

The 31-year-old former Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg man produced several match winning performances scoring 15, often spectacular, goals along the way

Zimbabwe international captain Benjani was also an Eriksson purchase and shot to instant popularity amongst City fans scoring the winning goal on his debut in a 2-1 derby success at Old Trafford.

Another to be beset by injury problems at various points of his stay, the 31-year-old was a periphery figure this season and eventually went on loan to Sunderland at the end of the campaign. In all he made 27 starts for the Blues and scored seven goals.

Veteran Brazil defender Sylvinho came on a one-year contract at the start of this season straight from helping Barcelona to Champions League success.

The 35-year-old found his first team starts restricted to just nine but became an instant hit in the dressing room with his professionalism and knowledge that he was always ready to pass on.

Had it not been for Adam Johnson’s stunning effort in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland, Sylvinho’s eye-catching, long-range FA Cup goal at Scunthorpe would have been voted the goal of the season.

Also released this summer are young striker Jack Redshaw who is interesting Rochdale, goalkeeper Tobias Johansen and midfielder Karl Moore.

Think we should've given Petrov another years contract. Benjani was shite and Sylvinho nothing but curiosity. Don't know much about Redshaw or Johanssen. Moore seemed like very very skillfull player but slight at build.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Benjani - £1m per goal

It has to go down as one of the worst signings ever - on the same shelf as Samaras and Vuoso

Good luck to them all

Sad to see Petrov go.....happy as larry to see Floella on his way (fucking appalling signing and everyone bar Sven knew it would be from Transfer Deadline Day onwards) and Sylvinho well, he just seems like a thoroughly nice fella...I wish him well.

hopefully the youngsters go on to make a living playing the game...good luck lads

Apparently Petrov is set to sign for Bolton, would be nice to see him be the main man in a team, he will do them a very very good job if he can stay fit.

watched us against blackburn on espn last night from earlier in the season and bellers and petrov were frightening, i wouldve kept him on aswell, on his day hes a threat against anyone, if he wasnt so injury prone he mightve become a legend for us...
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad to see Petrov go, not really too bothered about the rest.

All the best for the future to him and the other lads who were released.

Yeah but what a goal.

I'll miss Petrov. That giddy summer when he and Elano arrived along with Charlie and the others. For the first time in a long while I felt the stirring of a strange emotion. Hope. And that season still counts as one of my favourites because when it was good it was glorious and when it was bad it was f**king bad but damn I loved it.

RSC is still our worst signing. Benji is not even close. RSC was bagged up in pieces when he arrived and we still forked out £17m. Good player when fit but as he is never fit and we knew that prior to signing well frankly it still astounds me. Toure at £15m is not far behind and what £11m for Bridge? Factor in wages and length of contract and the likelihood of them featuring prominently in the next few seasons and the £4m or so we actually shelled out for Benji looks like a bargain.

I agree with most of the posts here, I think Petrov will be missed, on a good day he's been a really threatening player with some amazing finishes. Best of luck to all the players leaving, just need to see off RSC and Toure now!

Petrov deserves first team Football and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Club like Blackpool sniffing around him. West Ham have also been linked previously.

I like the Guy as a Player but he's struggling to get in my Matchday Squad now. One of Sven's best signings, though.
