On what channel can I watch the world cup?

I will move to a new place when I got back to London mid June and I will try to find a place that allow Arab sat, but if I couldn't, any channel would do me. So on what can I watch it and any info on how to get it would be appreciated.

The World Cup will be on BBC1 and ITV1 - both on terrestrial TV.

Is it free or you have to subscribe to one of their extra channels?

It's free. I think the World Cup is legally protected in Britain, as being of 'significant national interest', so it can't be shown on subscription-only TV, like the FA Cup final, and the Olympics.

Yep, here's the currently protected sports events:

The Summer Olympics
Fifa World Cup finals
Uefa European Championship finals
The Grand National
FA Cup Final (England, Wales, Northern Ireland)
Scottish FA Cup Final (Scotland)
Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship
The Open Golf Championship
Rugby Union World Cup
Six Nations Rugby Championship (Wales matches)
The Ashes

(This goes on the next contract to be signed as of Nov 2009, not those currently protected- ie Ashes is from 2016 onwards)

What the fuck?
Euro and the world cup for free???
So if we made a similar law here in UAE we"ll watch it for free?
Or does BBC pay for it anyway?

Yeah, the BBC/ITV pay for them, but only free-to-air channels are legally allowed to bid for these competitions.

BBC gets its money from the TV license, and ITV from advertising, plus a bit of license revenue, I think (same for Channel 4).
