Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

1. all proceeds go to the Neil Young fund.
2. invite Gornik, Nelly scored against them in the ECWC Final and the club just had Book & Summerbee in Poland on a reunion visit.
3. the trophy to be named for City's owners and the money from all such future games every August given to a fund to help former players who are in need.
That's your new City with its old soul, i think.

I like the basic idea here.
But who wants to see Gornik at Eastlands when you could have Barca, Real, Valencia, Milan, Juventus, B.Münich etc etc. Not to mention these clubs would attract more fans, therefore making more money to the fund.

I'd like something like how Barca used to have their Joan Gamper trophy (the one we won). One South American team, a top European club, and an 'also ran'- someone like Gornik or a club associated with an old player who didn't get a testimonial (Dinamo Tblisi, for example).

Top idea of the OP.. and this would make it work in attracting fans.

Barca get a full house for the Gamper, one bcos they take it seriously enough and two as they use it as a celebration of the team for the start of the season and thanks to the players for the last season.

City would have to do some groundwork to get the fans into a similar way of thinking, as i dont think English clubs/fans have that kind of culture.. they dont seem that arsed as everyone put pre-season tournaments down to a waste of time effort and money. City would have to let it be known they would take it seriously to change that culture imo.

I would definitely get a ticket for that. My money is on Sampras in straight sets
