Not as good as Michael Johnson IMO and recent reports suggest that Johnno is making a good recovery it would seem a little strange if we bought Rodwell.

would be a fantastic signing

Intriguing to see if Michael Johnson can get back to fitness....even more interesting to see whether he would look as good in the context of significantly better quality of teammates.

Rodwell being here would help take some of the expectation away/focus from Johnson in fans eyes

up for him. But lets hope we come out on top!!

Rodwell was born in Southport according to wikipedia.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

i think we should scoop up Arteta as well...even if only just to weaken Everton and make Moyes suffer.

I wonder tho, who's keeping track of how these clubs are spending our wedge? we might fuck ourselves if we continue to fund competitors. We certainly did Arsenal no damage this season by spending 40M with them. You could argue they may have mounted a real title challenge with RVP out and Ade in the side but he would have been missing about 6 weeks overlapping RVPs injury as well so you never know. Besides Ade had burned his bridges even more than the recent Ned uprising with City has burned a bridge or two with us.

Well we all know that Rodwell isnt coming to eastlands now.

I was never confident of getting him anyway. He still has a career to build at Everton. Still much more to learn.

I dont think the new contract makes much of a difference to be honest.

Fair enough the commitment probably means he isnt leaving Everton this year, but he already had 4 years left on his existing contract and would have had to agitate for a transfer to move, so aside from the new weekly wage (£30k) which he would get at any PL side bar none for a player of that quality, the only thing that matters is whether a club is going to turn up with a wheelbarrow full of money and test the board's resolve.

If they did, I still think they would sell - especially if they thought they could pull our pants down again

Assuming Vieira gets fucked off, and the crab is sidelined for the 3 or 4 games a season when we need a one dimensional player to break up play, then we are probably a touch short in that department, and Rodwell is not shy at getting forwards as we saw against United.
