Good stuff to see that, as would be hoped, average attendance is up over 2000 from last season. We've seen quite a few matches where very poor away followings at Eastlands will have depressed that figure.
Pleasingly, as opposed to any previous season I can recall, however, is the accompanying fact that our cup attendances where our four home Carling Cup attendances were 24,506, 36,358, 46,105 and 46,067.
Clearly we want to be in the Champions League next season but, if we only make the Europa League it will be very interesting to see how our home attendances look in comparison to last season's UEFA campaign.
For me, it's pretty obvious that we are pretty much at capacity now and I would be astonished not to have an announcement about an extension to follow pretty imminently. If we are trying to really take the attendances to the next level we ideally need to offer a new wadge of capacity so that groups of mates, or pairs of them, or families can buy a block of Seasoncards together. I know lots of ppl were unhappy about the "reconfiguration" of the SC placements but, personally, I think we'll all see the benefits of that initiative in coming years and...again....I am pleased to see that City are thinking in a more strategic sense than I have ever seen in my life to date.
