The Ref today

Postby Blue Toy » Sat May 01, 2010 5:45 pm

If we hadn't won today I suspect this forum would now be full of complaints about the ref.

I haven't seen any of it on TV yet but we appeared to have 2 strong penalty claims, particularly the handball which I think everybody saw apart from Clattenburg and his assistant.

Plus where was the booking for Warnock on the challenge that did give us the pen?

Clattenburg you are a lucky man!

Good point, he was shit!

Totally agree about the penalty claims but there were so many other decisions he managed to either get wrong or not see. We really have a shortage of decent Refs in this country at the moment and it needs to be addressed urgently.

I've not read the match thread yet and was going to post this in there. He was atrocious mate, seeming to let Villa come through the back of our lads time and time again and I was just wishing that some of the lads would take advantage by getting one of their players sent off. The problem was that Clattenburg wouldn't have noticed and let the game go on, just as he gave mythical corners and free-kicks.

Is he still in the employ of far east bookies?

Thought Vinnies booking was harsh too. Looked like he got the ball.

'Hair Transplant' is a bobbins ref.

I usually don't criticise referees but I was going mental after half an hour. I mean wtf ref?!

He's lucky he got away for being so poor.

1st half was shocking..Could not go against us for the pen.Was a dead cert.
2nd half he was ok. The yellow card on Kompany was bloody dire though.

I watched the game drunk it's defo the way forward. The game felt like it lasted 10 mins and I wanted to cry after the 3rd goal and I can't really recall what went on. Top day though all round.

Haha its often the way to go, I've had a couple of those this year, but like most of us I thought the ref was terrible for the first half. I'm sure they got every single decision for 5-10 mins in the middle and the pen for the handball looked a cert to me.

Gave them a corner which they shouldn't have had and failed to booked Collins when he smashed the ball into the stand when we got a free kick.

Just read the SkySports report, which claimed Clattenburg "enjoyed a good day", and also called the atmosphere "curiously muted" after half time.

I posted earlier in the week Clattenberg today, Bennet Wednesday & we shouldn't expect any help from either although Clattenberg acted as if his paymasters had laid City big time. We beat 12 today no doubt about that

Me too, no real problems with Steve Bennett as he seems to have a bit of integrity, the problem he's got is he just gets things wrong!
