Looked out of sorts and a bit disinterested in the first half although he did look like he was carrying a knock after his penalty.

Came much more into it in the second half, saw a lot more of the ball and looked much better.

I don't think he was anywhere near Man of the Match though.

Got a whack off that twat Dunne just before the pen

Who was the person who called for Zab to be substituted by Richards at half-time?
I could name and shame by looking it up, but he might want to come forward!

Zab for me, closely followed by Vieira.

Kompany had a great game too.

I watched Carlos especially today due to the recent press and thought he played his heart out. He seems to be back to his normal self and just got a little dejected after a few crunching tackles that should've been given. If he was Messi, he'd be getting them every day of the week but because he's nails the refs decide that he should've taken it better.

The bloke has is sensibilities you know!

Yeah, I thought Tevez was kicked to fuck today. He's a marked man and gets no protection whatsoever.

Having said that, I thought he got himself in the box and went down looking for a pen today, but I've yet to see te replay.

Zab. An honourable mention to Martin O'Neill whose substitutions effectively took away any chance they had of scoring. Another honourable mention to lady luck, who allowed the penalty to squeeze past Friedel and froze the Villa defenders in place to allow Ade to scuffle a soft one.

Agreed. I was a little concerned at the anguished look on his face at times or was he just in pain from some of the tackles but it was great to see the effort he put in and by the end he was really knackered. He wasn't on his own though was he? I thought Bellers was shot at the end as well.

I thought Bellers was magnificent today. Never gave up on serving up something special, and he got his reward in the end. I've said it before, but if we get fourth I bet it's him who drags us into contention. He somes up our club motto IMO.

MOM tho for me, was Zabaletta. Didn't put a foot wrong and bailed us out on many occasion.

I thought he played really well at the time but voted for Zabba as MOTM, however having watched the match again a few hours ago, Tevez was without a doubt the best player on the pitch. ONeil said as much in his post match interview too claiming they would have won if he'd been playing for them.

Vieira for me. Thought he was immense. His passing was sublime. He cannot run like he used to but once he had the ball he distributed it very well indeed.

zabaleta was world class yesterday he read the game like a true pro. although it must be said Vieira, NDJ and Kompany were all brilliant. Anyone else think our counter attacking is a little flat compared to the first half of the season???

An in-form SWP makes a big difference on the counter, as he showed with the 3rd goal. The same can be said for Ireland & Robinho. Those 3, when they put their mind to it, are lethal on the counter attack & have been involved in quite a few of our best counter attacking moments in the last 2 seasons. Unfortunately they've not produced enough in the rest of the game, to merit regular selection.
