Fulop joins City on emergency loan

Happy days, it's not Joe Hart but at least we've got a keeper for Saturday.

Hungarian international Marton Fulop will train with City tomorrow after switching from Sunderland on an emergency loan.
The move comes after Blues number one Shay Given’s season was ended by a dislocated shoulder at Arsenal on Saturday.

Twenty-six-year-old 6’ 5” Fulop is no stranger to being in a club on a temporary basis after having stints at Chesterfield, Coventry and Sunderland whilst a Spurs player and then joining Leicester and Stoke from the Stadium of Light.

Given’s injury and an operation to back up Stuart Taylor has left City with just one fit senior keeper in Faroe Islands international Gunnar Nielsen.

Fulop is likely to play against Villa on Saturday as Roberto Mancini’s side seeks to book a place in next season’s Champions League.

“The Club, with the backing of the Premier League, have been in contact throughout the day with both Birmingham City and Sunderland with regards to bringing either Joe Hart or Marton Fulop to the team on an emergency basis,” confirmed a Blues spokeswoman.

“Agreement has not been reached with Birmingham, but we anticipate that Marton Fulop will join us in training tomorrow and we thank him and Sunderland AFC for their help in this situation.”

Would be funny if we play Gunnar and Fulop sits on the bench against Villa. Haha

To be honest I liked the way Gunnar handled himself in the area.

I know he didnt have a lot to do but still...I wasnt nervous.

That may change when we play the Vile.

I agree , I hope Bobby Manc sets the stalls out for the defense with Gunnar. It's great that other teams understand the situation and are prepared to help out. (with a competant goalie)

It's not about the goalie though, it's about City scoring ------ certainly more than Villa and Spurs.

If we f*ck up , then so be it. Deep down nothing changes, Once a blue , always a blue.

Who were you expecting? Buffon? Cech? He’s only coming to sit on then bench for three games. Not play upfront for the remainder of the season.

Remember the last time we had to get an emergency keeper it was some guy who was released from Blackpool whom I have never even heard of since.

And conceded 2 in each game against Villa and Spuds. Wonder if that had any bearing on the decision?

He will come in play three blinders and you lot that have slated him before he has even played for us will be licking his hairy balls. What's the odds on a thread saying " we should sign Fulop" next week??

He played in goal during Sunderlands crap run of results and last year Gordan could not oust him when he returned from injury. For fuck sake get behind him cause I really can't see him being on the bench come Saturday.

Yep. Absolutely disgraceful not wanting to give back there best player who they have a contract with till the end of the year when they are on course for there highest finish ever with half a million a place at stake.

I mean being the richest club in the world is one thing, but don’t they know that everyone should be bending over backwards to help us to.

Shay rarely keeps clean sheets as well. Plus you have to remember it was in a Sunderland team who were struggling when he was playing.

From what I've seen from Fullop he has impressed me this season. I'm not that worried about this move at all.
