Given to see specialists

Shay Given will see two specialists in the next 72 hours after dislocating his left shoulder at the Emirates on Saturday.

Despite needing oxygen when stretchered off after saving Abou Diaby’s 74th minute shot in the 0-0 draw at the Emirates, Republic of Ireland international Given travelled back with the rest of the team on the train after the game.

He damaged ligaments and tendons in the incident.

Given today received welcome and warm encouragement today from Joe Hart, the on-loan Blues keeper who was named in the PFA’s team of the season on Sunday night.

Hart said: “I’m devastated for Shay, I texted him on Saturday night. I don’t want that to happen to anyone, especially someone like him - a great keeper and really good person.

All I can do is wish him a speedy
recovery and that he is back between
the sticks again as soon as possible

The Blues now have a goalkeeping dilemma for the last week of the season with number two Stuart Taylor still not fit after a knee operation and fourth choice David Gonzalez suffering from a groin injury.

It leaves Faroe Islands international Gunnar Nielsen as first in line and Academy player Loris Karius.

Nielsen stepped in for the last quarter at the Emirates for his first taste of league football in this country.

Any chance of him seeing a specialist "kicker" while he's at it? You know, so he sends the ball to a team-mate rather than the opposition when he hoofs it out of his area?
