What reception will Dunnie get ? All good hopefully

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

What reception will Dunnie get ? All good hopefully

Postby eastlands-lostboy » Fri Apr 23, 2010 3:19 pm

Dunnie will be back soon to Eastlands and I for one hope that he is given the upmost respect by us all. He deserves a very very warm welcome from all on the day. We do have some good memories of him and also some bad, however he stands for a lot of things that lots of pro footballers fall into but never rise above again. Drinking, no training, letting himself go and so on, then bang a kick up the fucking arse by KK was enough to get Dunnie back on track. I always felt that he did have a bit of dignity and always tried to promote the club in a positive manner. He could have gone apeshit after the Barton Thailand affair but he kept his head down. He will never sell 1000's of autobiography's but coupled with his Republic of Ireland stories I wouldn't mind sitting down with him to listen to all the tales !!!

he's done nout to turn us against him, including not celebrating a goal, so he'll be warmly received I am sure.

Richard Dunne was a good and loyal servant to the City cause during some good and bad times. He represented us with dignity and gave his all. His all wasn't always good enough for some but he deserves a good reception from us.
I will always consider the Dunnie Monster as a good blue.

In my eyes the lad is a City legend, I doubt there are many if any of our past big names who played as many games as he did and won player of the season as often.

He'll get a rim job, and rightly so.
Without him, Distin, Barton and Anelka we'd have been back down a division towards the end of KK's reign.
Top guy and I'm sure he'll get a lot of respect from us.

It'd be a sad day if that guy got a poor reception. I'd lose faith (as I'm sure any young player aspiring to be a city legend) in the whole legend status if I heard him getting booed.

Like already mentioned, he didn't give it lots when he scored against us and that counts for a lot.

He said a couple of things when he left, but i think he was hurt by how he felt he was treated. As long as he doesn't come out with some Ade style moaning between now and the game, he deserves a good reception.

Think he needed to move on to reignite his career which was starting to go backwards and we needed better defenders for where we wanted to be. Unfortunately, we forgot to buy the better defenders

I will probably just shed a few tears.

Getting rid of him was one of the most incredibly stupid decisions I have ever seen City make.

I don't see why he wouldn't get a good reception.

Remember those 4 player of the year awards he won in the seasons following his misdemeanours with booze? Short fucking memory then.

He had his problems at the start but he turned it round and then some. I'm not a violent person in any way, but if I see anyone booing Dunnie then they are liable to get a smack.

A true modern day City legend, I for one can't wait to give him the reception he deserves.

I hope the lad gets a rousing reception then probably some dickheads will boo him every time he gets the ball. It would be nice to see him get a goal the way he usually scores, own net 90th minute.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

I thought it was time for him to move on, both for his and the club's best. But I still appreciate him greatly and consider him a true city legend, who truly deserves a great welcoming.
