I suppose you could factor in that such a new squad know each other better for the second half of the season.
I wonder had it been the other way around? Actually, its all a load of conjecture and we've been over it and over it and nobody has the answer. Maybe we were right to get rid of hughes when we did. Maybe we hired someone that's no better..
We'll see over the next few games if Mancini is the man. We'll never know if Hughes would've been.

Good post mate, maybe now we can let this whole Hughes v Mancini shit go. Mancini wins hands down and he's here to stay...hopefully.

Stats are all well and good, but, stats aside, Mancini had the benefit of players who had had time to get to know each other's play.
Mancini gets us into the Champions League, he's The Man
It really is that simple!

True but you could equally say that Hughes had the benefit of having hand picked the players and several years experience of the league he was managing in while Mancini had to get to know the players from scratch
and get used to a new league at the same time.

We lost the Derby at the swamp under Hughes unluckily 4-3 and if we had lost on Saturday trying to play like we did at the swamp then i would say yes Mancini is the man but we did'nt we said attack us coz we will only try to hit you on the break and we cant play like that. Our best performances this season have been when we have played attacking football and when any team is at home the attacking mantra has to be paramount. So for me they both are level on points and i'm fucked if i know whether Bobby can land the KO but i hope he does coz we will be in the CL.

good points, although how do you value their respective handicaps?
Hughes deserves a lot of credit for bringing in the players and having the right idea regarding attacking football.
But he really blew it, big-time, the way he couldn't sort out our defence

I think what you say will haunt him the rest of his life but he was a striker after all.

Of course Mancini also has had 6 months to get to know the players and Hughes had 18 months. Hughes had 3 windows to get in the players he wanted, Mancini had one. Hughes had a preseason, Mancini had 3 days.

..and Hughes started the season with a team of players half of whom had barely met, Tevez not match fit, Ireland underachieving, accomodating Robinho. Mancini inherited a side with Tevez scoring regularly, was allowed to fuck Robinho off & drop Ireland & was praised for it by the very same people who would have hung Hughes for doing the same.
The comparisons are meaningless imo. All my posts early season were that I expected us to struggle for a bit then finish strongly. We did a bit better than I expected early season & a bit worse afterwards. The fact we changed managers in the middle of it has made very little difference. Both have good & bad points but neither has proved that they're good enough.

Well that's the whole thing there in a nutshell. Comparrisons say both have achieved nothing yet.
I would prefer to have hughes to play the big teams (home and away) and half the other home games and Mancini to take the other half and the lesser away games.
Any chance of sorting that?

Because I have no hidden agenda. I have no particular preference for either manager and I was merely making the point that without the 2 home defeats his record is pretty damn good, as I believe I already said. As you pointed out, without Hughes 2 away defeats his record is very good too. Happy now?
