which date could we get 4th?

Postby Lee_Kinda » Mon Apr 05, 2010 12:28 am

another thread gave me the idea for this, but which game (if at all) do you think we could get the 4th spot? Will it go down to the last game or will we have it wrapped up before then?

11 April 2010 16:00 H Birmingham City
17 April 2010 12:45 H Manchester United
24 April 2010 17:30 A Arsenal
01 May 2010 15:00 H Aston Villa Barclays Premier League
05 May 2010 20:00 H Tottenham Hotspur
09 May 2010 16:00 A West Ham United

I think it could be tottenham at home, the atmosphere would be amazing if we can do it at home!

(Can someone do a poll? including, "we wont get 4th")

I think it is likely to be a game in which we are not playing - e.g. Spurs losing

I see us having seven points from the next three games.... going into the Villa game. I would like the Villa game to be the game
that secures fourth place. That's Liverpools second to last game. I see Liverpool as the threat not Spurs.
And besides I'm home for the 'Derby' and the Villa games, so it should be a good piss up time for both games.

I voted 17th but that's only because I had it in my head from the start of the season that we would cement 4th spot and stop united winning the title all in one go, so I'm not gonna give in yet!!

If we win against Birmingham and United and Spurs lose to Arsenal, its nicely poised for their 5:30 kick off against Chelsea on the 17th. If they lose that I believe we'll have done too much for them to catch us and equally so with Liverpool.

Its a tight one, but I believe the 17th of April is going to be a day that goes into the history books... for several different reasons!

I think it could go down to the wire but I feel beating tottenham at home will be crucial - we need to keep an eye on liverpool though

If we win both the brum game and the derby, we would get 6 points. Let's say Spurs lose both and with a one point advantage we would be 7 points clear. However City and Spurs would have a total of 12 points left to gain so we couldn't possibly have it wrapped up in two games.

I have gone for the Spurs game cause it's the realistic point.

I know mathematically it won't be wrapped up, but I think it would take fuck ups of biblical proportions to not go on and cruise to fourth if it looks that way at about 7:30 on the 17th.

Mathematically, I think Pompey can still stay up, or at least they could before their last game... but there's a point in the season when you know a team will go down, win the league, stay up or qualify for champions league and I feel 17th could well be it. Please God.

You mean of Typical City proportions? Yeah, why would we ever think 7 point lead with 4 to play was safe?

I still think this but have voted 01/05 after we beat Villa - Spurs will have lost enough points by then to be out of it and the miracle will not have materialised at Anfield

Agreed. I still feel like we will need a result the final day of the season to finish the job.

I am going for Villa, because it's the only game I am going to get to this season, and I want it to be that one :)
