Yes I'd go along with that. As much as I disliked him being our manager, I have to give him credit for not sticking the knife in today.

Its funny how many folk leave the club and at least throw an underlying bitter comment at some point, but you're right, he was dignified and gave a very unbiased view on the game.

Hughes played a blinder today. I liked his rye smile when he was asked about Carlos and Craig, as if to say 'They were MY players'.

I love the irony of this thread....the guy who doesn't want to discuss Hughes...

I think you are missing the point mate.

I started this thread because I am sick OF reading about him but realise that some of you are still obsessed with him so wanted to give you a place to talk about him and remember the good times.

I have just posted this in another thread but will repeat it here for your benefit.
Thank you mate, at last somebody who tells the truth!

All in all I avoided the subject on here for about 5 solid months yet I was still accused, on an almost daily basis, of 'constantly slagging him off' and 'having an agenda' - Maybe it wasn't me with the agenda after all!

I made my feelings towards hughes very clear in a thread I started entitled 'I Don't Like Our Manager' and I got slagged off in that thread for it. After that I steered well clear of the subject but was still hounded by idiots determined to make me a scapegoat.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's time to move on. I genuinely don't understand some people' obsession with hughes. I was upset when Sven left, I even attended a rally at the ground in an attempt to save his job, but I don't bang on about him all the time now he has gone!!

Maybe my mistake was to be open and honest about my feelings towards hughes from the start. What a pity that those who slagged me off for it can't be as open and honest about their feelings for Mancini!

I cannot provide quotes as I cant remember who said it, but I certainly remember around October them saying they were reassessing their targets. Plus if the club had a target of 70 points and 6th place then why were there so many quotes from players early on targeting 4th place.

I believe that they had a target of 4th but put out 6th to the media to cover their backs?

I've been posting on here since Pearce was Manager and I don't recall threads being made for him once Sven took over.

I'd also like to suggest a Brian Horton sticky.

Or a Coppell one, it'd be the shortest one in history ;-)

Can we have a Phil Neal one?

FOR THE RECORD.

Mancini earnt a little bit back at weekend for me...

BUT........

Im still undecided if he is the right man for the job and one win against Chelsea doesnt have me cracking open the MOET.
We should have been at Wembley.

why not just delete and archive this thread to the Classics section?

it's needless at this point, isn't it? it's a honey-coated bear trap. i'm not falling for it. I've read 48 Laws of Power. I surrendered in this battle many many months ago from a position of low ground.

;)

No but he was totally professional.

The only blight on proceedings was the presenter asking which team he preferred, Hughes said Manchester. Well done les

I agree that he was not the worst nor the best. I don't see what shit he has been receiving sice sacked though? He was a DIRTY rag bastard and that has probably been mentioned few times but that's a FACT not giving him stick.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

DIRTY Rag bastard - Yeah - clearly you treated him with objectivity and respect as might be expected to be given to the manager of CITY - and why can you just not 'let it go' ??

Not really. I HATED him as a player and I can't really get over stuff like that. But I haven't seen too many people kicking the man when he has been down over his management. He is gone now.
