Final Points Total and League Position (GAME... sort of)

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Final Points Total and League Position (GAME... sort of)

Postby Alioune DVToure » Wed Feb 17, 2010 11:57 pm

Quickfire thread. Put what you think will be our total final number of points and then the league position that you think this will achieve in brackets. I'll dig up the thread in May to see who won. I'll start:

68 (5th)

Frigg all for the winner by the way.

Due to your involvement in the ensuing FA Cup final, you will only draw at The Boleyn on the last day of the season.
This will still leave you 4th.

As for points. Meh.

I'd say that's about right.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Did you see the draw we got (should we beat Stoke away)?! I hope you're as optimistic about WHU's own prospects!

Prospects of what? We fell at the first and second hurdles respectively in the cups and have been looking downwards since about 1st September in the league.

I just hope you don't send us down, mate. Wouldn't be able to show up on here out of the shame of it.

i seriously hope WH do not need to fight in the last game..
but then i also hope City have gotten it together and already have 4th secured before the last game.

Im going for 73pts 3rd 1pt clear of Arsenal

( the gooners have yet to play, Stoke, Hull, Birmingham, Wigan and Blackburn away from home. The frist 3 they will have to be at the top of their game to get any kind of result, and all of them i think are not places they like to go. We on the other hand have only Chelsea, the Gooners themselves and perhaps Fulham as remaining difficult away games, so im going for a happy clapper run-in with a lot of points bagged )

That's any away game for us! We've won one of the last eleven!

Well, i think you have to look at what has happened since Everton. We are getting slightly more difficult to beat away from home since then.. and Stoke and Hull have taken points off quite a few decent teams as they are difficult at home. So my assesment is that we are getting more stubborn.. slowly. very slowly. but it is the right direction and if you look in detail at the away games since Everton we have not played well at all, but have not been that far off getting a result. I dont see that we need a massive improvement to get some results in the run-in.

We need a massive improvement to be able to play attractive attacking football again, but that is a different matter entirely

68th and 5th sounds right. Then Pompey will be wound up, we get 6 points deducted and finish 7th.
so now as every enemy circles our city

65 points, 7th. we have pretty much the most difficult run in of all the challengers except for perhaps Spurs. Todays game was crucial as Liverpool are one of the weakest challengers and so we needed the points. We have 12 games left and still have to play Chelsea and Arsenal away, and Villa, Everton, Spurs and United at home. None are must win games but out of those six we must win 4 to be in with a realistic chance of 4th as Villa and Liverpool have lots of easy games coming up. Even one of our "easy" games is Fulham away where they are quite strong.

Thats why some people appear bright until they open their mouth.
