IS Bobby Mancini THE MAN?

OK, every regular here knows I am pro-mark hughes person. I think that today goes down as bad day in the clubs history. The owners took over and made a very bold statement that they are here for the long term. They backed mark Hughes and labelled the new regime as a 'project' and said they were aware that it would take time and that mark hughes was the man for the long term.
However:
We have lost one home game in 2009
We are in the semi finale of the carling cup
We have not been in a semi final for 28 years
We have only lost 2 games since august
AND THEY SACKED MARK HUGHES
THAT IS AN AMAZING STATISTIC, because, believe it or not, this is CITY, who have won FUCKALL FOREVER!!
This will be a long running poll to see how we go with our new appointement, ROBERTO MANCINI. I hope he wins everything in sight and sincerely hope he blows us away with his flair, tactics and of course his infamous Italian defence..... after all that is what they are famous for!
PLEASE VOTE AS YOU SEE FIT

Although I would rather say Mourinho come, I have voted yes. I feel he has great credentials and will eventually lead us to the title.
Got to admit though WW a great loaded question as winning the league in the PL is a great ask from anybody. Do you think Hughes would win the league given the chance? Would he fuck.

I've high hopes for Mancini.
I reckon he will lead us to a title. He's got great experience, is no shrinking violet and will say things as they are, is known to be adapt at managing the big time charlies and most importantly he has won something at every club he has managed.
He's gonna be our Mourinho, i can feel it in my bones.
We've got ourselves a good one here.

Yes, I believe that Mancini will do the business. Hughes is not the worst guy in the world- he made some excellent acquisitions, gave us some scintillating football at times and was, overall, a respectful and reasonable guy as far as I could see. But in my opinion he lacks that cutting edge- he can go to Waitrose and buy the ingredients for the cake but when it comes to baking it to perfection, there's his downfall. Mancini is the pâtissier, the man who'll take the ingredients supplied by Hughes and craft a wonderful side from it.
Mancini has proven himself a winner with three league titles and two domestic cups, regardless of the circumstances, and is still only a very young man (in management terms).
I think, rightly or wrongly, Mancini will command greater respect from our 'big' players and consequently we'll see a hungrier side from now on. We'll be tighter defensively and play attractive football and I genuinely believe he will be a great success.

WHY NOT ASK THE QUESTION WITHOUT THE REST OF THE ONE SIDED STATS?
I CAN ALSO ADD A SHIT LOAD OF WHAT HE HASNT DONE IN 18 MONTHS AND THAT WOULD MAKE YOUR PRO HUGHES STATS LOOK LIKE SHITE ...OBVIOUSLY THE OWNERS LOOK AT WHAT US ANTI HUGHES SUPPORTERS SEE WHICH IS WHY THEY SACKED HIM.!!
I VOTED YES - PURELY BASED ON HIS PAST RECORD AT MANAGEMENT.

Top post CtK and I too think he has what it takes to take us to the next level, I believe he will install a win at all costs Italian mentality into the squad and anyone who dosn't follow this pattern will be fucked off in the long term. The fact he has a 61% win record from 227 gams at Inter tells me he's a world-class manager. I firmly expect him to deliver silverwere over the coming years.
Due to all this I have voted YES.

Mr Wonderwall (Love It), have you been watching City this season from beyond your technoblurred compuer screen? Maybe you should change your name to Don't Look Back In Anger because Some Might Say we've been Falling Down at the back all season, just Roll With It (Glorious words indeed, with or without a middle 8 finish) I don't trust any Italian cunt with a scarf but at least he's not Welsh. Is there a vote for that?

Nobody knows if he will do the job for us and anyone who pretends to know otherwise is simply guessing.
Exactly the same as the people who wanted Hughes out, you don't know if he would of started turning those draws into wins, the immediate signs were that he would, 2 wins and 1 loss out of the last 3 games, with a defense that looked like it was going to improve e,g richards and bridge looking good again.

Mancini has one three Italian league titles with Inter. Two of these are post-Calciopoli (so whilst admittedly an achievement....a massively devalued one against hugely weakened opposition and minus the biggest rivals). One is the one Inter were "awarded" after Juve were stripped of the title. Sure it was their first title in 18 years...but they actually came second
Four Coppa Italia wins.....two at Inter, one at Fiorentina, one at Lazio
So I the plus points for me are the fact that he has won more (as a manager) than Mark Hughes had, by quite some distance
He has experience of managing three pretty large clubs (massive one in the case of Inter)
Also experienced in handling some pretty massive names....(and some temperamental ones...such as Adriano, Figo). He also knows and has relationships with some Serie A players who I wouldn't mind us buying. Just please please please no more Italian strikers Roberto
He has extensive Champions League experience
The only reservations I have are:
Not really liking his style of football, the circumstances of his dismissal from the San Siro bear out the fact that the Inter faithful were also not exactly loving it
and
I think we could have gone for a more experienced and "bigger" manager than him if I'm honest. He's more experienced than Hughes but not massively so
Anyway, that's just my tuppence. I'm looking forward to welcoming him and will be full square behind him

I voted "don't know" simply because that's the truth.
What I do know is that for many, the only reason this City squad was failing was due to mark Hughes.
Therefore it follows that now he has been removed and is no longer the barrier to city success...Mr Mancicni MUST succeed.
With Hughes gone, there is no excuse for failure left.

What kind of impact must he make in order to be an improvement in your view?

That's pretty easy to answer for me.
In order to be an improvement he has to do two things
He has to get us to a Cup Final
And
He has to get us into the Champions League.
He's got 12 months to do this because, as others have said, he has no need to perform major surgery on this squad.
A few new players and some time to bed them in and then I expect us to be sitting in the top 4 week in week out
If he fails to do that, this move has not been a success.simple as that for me

why 12 months? Wouldn't that make it almost impossible for him to break it into Champion's League?
If you and few others people here are planning Mancini out campaign because you hate, for some odd reason, him then you should be straightforward about it. At least I never hid my utter contempt towards rag 'sparky'.
For me the targets are as follows. This season, show clear progress on the pitch, Hughes used our 'easy run' so it's going to be tough second part of the season but top6 should be good target. Considering Hughes finished 10th in his first season that would be pretty big improvement. Next season breaking the top four has to be target and/or making it into cup final...in case of missing out on top four, cup win is a must.
Reasonable considering resources.

Once again today, we demonstrated that we cannot defend at the back. Admittedly there were key injuries, but we have been conceding soft goals all season. That is the source of Mark Hughes' downfall--some players did not live up to their reputation. Also, letting Dunnie go was a huge error. He would have steadied things up. Just look at the difference he is making for Villa.
This is a sad day. I respect Mark Hughes, and the huge effort he put into building a solid foundation for this club. I can only hope Mr Mancini lives up to his reputation.

A Mancini Out Campaign?????? Don't be so fucking stupid....god you can be a cock at times mate
I SUPPORT THE CLUB AND THE TEAM....unlike your antics over the last 18 months. Do I think that makes me a better City fan than you? Yes I do, and one with considerably more class.
He has from here til the end of the season to get into the CL. We're in sixth place with a game in hand. I firmly believe Hughes could have got us to the top 4 (even though I fully understand the decision and agree with the timing to change now)
Roberto Mancini has 12 months as more than half the work has been done for him. Pretty simple concept. If at the end of 12 months he hasn't moved us on as I said THEN I will be happy for him to be removed. But I'm not such a cunt as to agitate week in week out for change before that point....or even afterwards.

I voted not sure.
Sure he has experience, of Italian football, but as others have pointed out his league wins were in a league with the real big boys missing.
But why has no one appointed him as manager since he left Inter, over 18 months ago. There must be something in that.
I see this as a panic appointment, along with with Brian Kidd. I just hope Cooke et all, has got it right.

if we stop letting in 3 goals per game it will be a good start
I'll back mancini, I'm quite excited about having him as our manager although less than excited about the circumstances of his appointment.

Hughe was prob right to be sacked but imo only for hiidink or mourinho, obv they both said no(i fand it hard to believe they wouldnt have been aproached), as a result i would of stuck with Hughes, i dont think mancini is the asnwer but ill give him my supprt, wasnt he only linked with Notts county?from there to the best job in football(which it is at the moment, its like cheating at champ manager a squad full of world class players and unlimited transfer funds), its a funny old world
