Seem to be handing out contracts very easily. I'm expecting one in the post sometime next month!

This is a mystery to me. Must already have a good two years or so left on his current terms and, as he can't get into the team, I doubt we're desperately fending off potential suitors. Why not wait until he gets in the team and proves he's consistently good enough?

Well Zabaleta is a good squad player who always gives 100%, if he doesn't mind the bench good for us.

Very true, and by giving him an extra million a year he will reward us 5 times in that value when it comes time to sell, if we do sell.

We need a big squad and if he's content with a display once or twice every month I think it's OK.
We also need a big score 2morrow and I hope for a stampee.
City 4 Mackems nil
CTID!!

Exactly its hard to find a player of his quality who is content with spending so much time on the bench at his stage in his career.

If Hughes had a clue, he'd have Richards wearing Bent like a shirt tomo and play Zabs at rightback.

Bollocks, Hughes couldn't even give a play MAKER like Elano a better contract.

Why give someone who is 1). Slow, 2). a constant fouler and 3) no playmaker, a 4-5 year contract ?

Sorry it should be stopped. Right now !

He ain't good enough.

I agree about point 2 he gets a yellow in nearly every game which is a problem.

My thoughts exactly: Zabaleta just isn't the kind of quality we need to get if we're to kick on and win titles, never mind 'hope to break into the Top 4'
And I've heard recently Upson could be our main target during the January window
Has he even got an England cap?

So you want 11 play makers in our team?

I think we had best stop the debate on who may or may not replace Hughes - we've got our man here!
