'I'll stay at Manchester City for 10 years': Barcelona target Robinho commits to Eastlands

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... l?ITO=1490

Add to My Stories Robinho claims he wants to stay at Manchester City for another '10 years' despite persistent speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The Brazilian has done little to end the rumours during his recovery from a stress fracture of the ankle, speaking in glowing terms about the Spanish club and the possibility of a move to the Nou Camp.

But asked about his future in an interview to be broadcast on Saturday on BBC's Football Focus, Robinho said: 'With every game I play, I feel more comfortable. I hope to continue playing football in England for a long time.

MANCHESTER CITY FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET
'I'm very happy here and I love Manchester City. I think I will stay here five years, 10 years, I don't know, my family are very happy, the fans love me and I love the fans. My focus is City. There will always be speculation but I'm very happy here.
'It is terrible to be injured. You want to return to playing football, and watching your team-mates gives you a great urge.'

Fans favourite: Robinho has a great relationship with the City supporters

After continuing his comeback in City's win over Premier League leaders Chelsea on Saturday, the £34million British record signing believes they are on course for a top-four place, but insists his ultimate aim is to win the title.
'I want to be champion,' he added. 'I've been lucky that every team in which I have played, I have been able to be a champion. My frame of mind has not changed playing for Manchester City, I still want to be champion.
'Of course to finish in the top four would not be bad, but we are going to fight for the title until the end.'

City revealed last night that midfielder Michael Johnson faces a long spell out after he suffered a serious knee injury in training.

England Under 21 star Johnson was assessed yesterday and manager Mark Hughes admitted the prognosis was bad.
He said: 'We are all disappointed for Michael. He might be out for the season but he will receive the best care.'

It is thought that Johnson, who has not played regularly in the Hughes era, has damaged a cruciate.

he player missed most of last season with lower abdominal problems, but has been on the bench recently and pushing for a place in the side.

Yeah, Yeah ...... he will stay as long as it suits him and until a better offer comes along. That could be in January or in 5 or 10 years. Not even he knows what the future holds and there is no point in you or any of us even worrying about it.

Lewis, my advice is don't listen to any of this crap. When you see him play just enjoy it and hope he produces something which wins us the game. If he stays .... great, if he doesn't .... whatever.

The same could be said for all of our players. None of them care about the club like you do.

If we are winning trophies and paying them a Kings ransom ...... they will all stay. If not, anything can happen.

Just enjoy the ride.

id love to diagree with you lytham blue but cant. at the end of the day to be loyal these days you have to be from country of origin/be a fan of club you play in most cases. cant blame players who float around different leagues collecting signing on fees few exceptions(really hate to say this with my hatred of all things scouse gerrard being an example until present(future well see)

Would be great to see him here for years. Love the player but tbh I don't believe a thing he says to the press (assuming the quotes are true about what he has said earlier). He's a proper whirlwind, all the time changing direction...

It's better that he says this than some of the words he has alledgedly said before and the press try to make him say.

Agree just enjoy it while we can but it's positive stuff to me. Don't let these old cynics grind you down Lewis :)

Can't win either way can he?

If he doesn't say it, he's a mercenary dying to go, if he does he's a liar. Forever cynical our lot.

I'll come out and say Robbie, you are a wonder to me, seeing you sign took me into dreamland and evrrytme you line up for us I feel like a little kid on Xmas day. Every season you are here I will have your number on one of my kits. Whether its 2 seasons or 10 I will always fondly remember you being the 1st mega star to sign for us.

I could think of certain other words to describe them too, but yes, the bit in bold is just about spot on, Lee.

Kind of reminds me of (dare I name him?) Kaka citing the fans as his reason for knocking us back just before accepting a 'better' offer a few months later. I hope Robi is with us for good though.

Very sorry to hear about Johnson, that poor guy needs a bit of GOOD luck for a change.

"The fans love me...."

Some of the fans love you Robbie, at least one of them even thinks you are GOD!

If you had come out with this two months ago it would be a lot more credible. Sorry but now it either looks like Barca can't afford you or don't think you are worth the money.

If it is all genuine it is good to hear (and in pretty fair English it has to be said) but personally I would have liked to have heard it earlier.

No offence Lewis but statements by Robinho are just not newsworthy. Every day he is asked the same set of questions by some moronic Brazilian or Spanish journalist, feel sorry for him really.

To be honest, football wise, it's logical he would want to stay here. Top team in the best league in the word and top money. Reasons he would go are weather/culture/lifestyle, to get away from the fast, physical football in the prem, and showboat in the technically superior Spanish league (not that I think La Liga players are technically better, but just that thats how it's set up), or he has a big falling out with someone at City. i certainly don't go for history/tradition bit.

Always said it was paper trash in the past there was never any quotes from the player himself saying he wanted to leave. The papers hate us and of course they would just love for him to leave us. All he has said have been taken out of context and twisted by media to get desired effect its what they do to sell papers.

he actually did (didn't say about how many years or so), he talked to the brazilian press and said the he is happy at Manchester and he is not considering a move to Spain, but what happens is that most people preferred to pay attention to the tabloids and the bad rumors that were around

Robinho talk, paper talk, rumours, truths, lies. Time will tell (I'm buggered if I can) so for now I will try and not be swayed by emotion, hope, or expectation re Robi and his future plans.

Believe what you see on the pitch - everything else is pretty meaningless.
