It's the festive season....are we sure it's not alcohol-related???

“At first I thought it was a really bad chest infection, or maybe alcohol poisoning.

“I felt so weak that I couldn’t move or eat.

“My friends had to bring me drinks in bed.

on the muen now:

CITY have been hit by a swine flu scare ahead of Saturday's trip to Bolton.

Vlad Weiss missed the weekend win over Chelsea with the H1N1 virus, and Craig Bellamy is thought to have had the illness over the past few days, although he is over the worst of it. Team-mate Micah Richards was a victim in August.

Several staff members have had swabs taken after reporting symptoms and the club are waiting for the results, while first team coach Eddie Niedzwiecki has also been ill, although it is not thought to be with swine flu.

City have already taken precautions against the illness spreading, ensuring that anybody thought to be infected stays at home, while the medical staff are closely examining anyone with symptoms.

Bellamy has also been struggling with a knee injury but the club is hoping he will be fit to face Bolton.

"It will be another two or three days before Craig is out on the training ground, and looking to force his way into the team at the weekend," said assistant manager Mark Bowen.

"We will have to monitor that, as we will with Vladimir Weiss who missed the game on Saturday with swine flu as well.

"There is a little bit of it creeping into the camp - some of the staff have got it. Eddie Niedzwiecki has been feeling a little low as well.

"Coaching staff tend to get on with things, but with players it has to be a little more delicate at times.

"Players come in every day with sniffles, coughs and colds and the doc has to determine whether it's the onset of something more serious. It's his decision whether they have to be sent home."

I must admit I wondered when I spoke with Eddie on Monday when he told me a few were off ill including Vlad , Craig and Vidal. He did say he was feeling crap but it didn't sound like swine flu symptoms. I feel pretty sure it's not thought to be widespread within the team though as so many were at the bowling do yesterday.

Mark Hughes was complaining of a bad back yesterday so maybe that's the first signs of it hitting him? Of the first team coaching staff there was only one missing that I noticed and he has DVT problems and not swine flu.

Haha LOL!

Swine flu much more common than people think. 5 days blown out seems to cover it. then you're OK.

I know these guys are super fit etc, however I had pig flu and I was wiped out for 7 days, I did not feel better until about day 5, then slowly improved to be able to go out of the house again on day 7 and went back to work on day 10 feeling ropey.

If it was swine flu, they would know.

Sounds more like seasonal flu / cold to me
