Training Tuesday 8/12

Normal training again today but with quite a few missing. Either knocks or illness preventing Weiss/Bellers/SWP/Vidal from getting out but good to see Micah already over his injury from Saturday.

The whole group was split into 2 for the warm up exercises with one starting with a variety of the beep test.Watching NDJ starting this off in the style of a gay marathon walker was quite funny. He leads by his example on the pitch and he certainly knows how to enjoy training whilst putting it in at the same time.

I was watching the doc practising his keepy ups. I am sure he has been set a challenge but today wasn't his best day. My guess is his best might still be single figures and I don't think he beat it today.

After some more warm up routines they split for a 10 a side football game and largely I would say the defences came out on top. Some excellent pressing on the ball as we have seen in games especially latterly and if I were to pick out one player I thought Vinnie was looking strong. Both the left backs were prominent no doubt looking to get the nod whilst Bridge is missing.Overall a good session.

As a number went inside a bunch stayed out for some finishing practice or just edge of the box free kicks. The finishing involving playing the ball wide and attacking crosses.Funny moment right near the end when Rigsby beat the keeper with 2 beauties and laughingly asked if he had had enough or wanted to be beaten again. He did seem in a great mood.

Rest day tomorrow and then probably behind the iron curtain as match day gets closer.

I noticed David Ball in the background going through a 1 to 1 with a fitness guy so I assume he might be close to a return.

cheers doug, lets hope SWP is back for Bolton, it would be good to see him keep this form up for a long spell and bag a few in the process. He needs to force himself in front of beckham and lennon for the summer.

Part 2 today was at Parr's Wood ten pin bowling!!!!

The players were there as a Christmas treat for underpriviledged kids. Almost all the players at training were there and although there was a special area cordened off for the special kids those who happened to be there also got a special treat and a chance for autographs/pictures etc. And amazingly it just so happened that I took my daughter there for the occasion!

The whole event seemed to go down brilliantly and my daughter is now a proud owner of a shirt full of signatures. Robbi was held up in traffic so didn't make the bowling itself but of course was mobbed when he did arrive. The 2 players on the nearest lanes to where I was were Tevez and RSC and they were great with the kids. Silvnho seemed to have a roving role and was superb mingling ,chatting and posing and one of a few handing out signed autographed pictures.

From what I could see not one of them had much of a clue on how to bowl even though one security guy said Tevez was in the night before practicing. His score of about 80 suggests he needs much more practice. RSC was in danger of being the highest score on his lane but by only taking 3 he managed to let a young girl be top scorer much to her delight. A really good afternoon for all concerned.

Great to see them doing that and all there with no egos that the press would jump on. Would have loved to see the car park there today!

As for RSC, did he manage a full bowl without injury?

Seems that you and your daughter had a great day Doug, and well deserved may I say ;-)

And from those reports, it just shows how much the club is putting in to encapsulate those within, and those in the community, within the club as a whole. Little things like involving the Doc, to the big things like the event you went to this afternoon. Good work from all concerned; yourself included.

Twas a different kind of enjoyable afternoon Beefy and I see the main City site already has the interview of Robbi at the bowling.
He was late getting there as I said and he couldnt stay for long as he had another place to be but he just about got the interview and a few autographs in before rushing off.

Hughes was another late arrival but he also did some autographs and no doubt an interview. Others interviewed were Vinnie , Kolo and Barry and those were just the ones I saw.

I know mate, and when I say encapsulating, this includes you and NMT who then keep us close to the club, therefore encapsulating us. I feel a song coming on:

I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect har..........

Ha ha ha, I know you're all singing it now. Who got past the first line ;-)

No I haven't heard anything but you have me wondering now whether a trip to Carrington might be worthwhile just in case they are playing there.
