I do not think so.

I agree he has practically come out and said he's is here for the money.

VHero is that not what we all do "go to work for the money".Benji is not going to get in the team but which other team in the prem is going to offer him the same package!.The answer is none so he will see his contract out with us playing in the ressies and earning a very good crust for him and his and for one i dont blame him he was afterall an integral part of the team that made history at the swamp.

His contract runs out at the end of this season. I dare to suggest that he will not be offered a new one.

To be fair he could have made the bench earlier this season with injuries and suspensions. I don't want him to get back in the side as it would mean better players are underperforming, but what right does a club have to say "hey we offered a contract, but now we're minted can you fuck off?"

Loyalty goes both ways, if we needed him, we'd keep him, he wants what was offered and has every right to collect it.
Tracking back is overrated.

I cant blame the lad for not wanting to go back to Portsmouth right now - getting paid there is like winning the lottery at the moment. Cant we tempt him with a move abroad? Im sure we could put together a youtube compilation to make him look good if we can find a club with more money than sense (and a lazy director of football)

I guess he'll get his chance when Ade is away for AFrican Cup duty. Who else do we have to back up RSC ?

Well, we'd still have Bellamy, Robinho and Tevez all capable of playing up front especially alongside RSC. And if half of them were injured then I'd much prefer someone like Ball on the bench before Benjani.

Like others have said on this thread, it fucking pisses me off that he will not leave BUT to be fair, I'd do exact same if I were in his shoes. I liked Sven but Benjani was one of the biggest transfer blunders in his career. Panic buy if I ever saw one. I'm sure he himself knows that this is his final big pay day and he will slide towards obscurity after he leaves us. Probably go to somewhere like Newcastle or Middlesbrough for a season and then move to French second division or hang up his boots.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Think about when he came he was meant to be the answer to our striking problems, a big man up front to hold the ball up, remember it was Mpenza or Bianchi up ront on their own at the time so I reckon he'll be on at least £50k. And to be honest it was worth it just for the Derby win at the swamp.

If his contract really runs out in June, let him stay for these last few months and then he's off anyway.

Funny thing is he was pretty lethal for Pompey...how many did he score for them? Would be interesting to see his Games/Goals ratio?

I wasn't talking about players alongside RSC but as the lone striker to replace RSC if needed. None of the above can play that role
although Bellers has done it on a couple of occassions. But now I hear that Big Phil is coming back. Hmmmm.

thanks Sven

another peach of a signing

I'd rather give Caicedo a crack of the whip (if the truth in him being sent back is there) in January than give Benjani a run out. He is simply one of the crappest strikers I have seen in sky blue

League career

Played 70 games for pompey scored 19 goals = 1 goal every 3 and a half games.
Played 21 for us and scored 4 goals = 1 goal every 5 and a quarter games

compared with Ade

Played 104 games for arsenal scored 46 = 1 goal every 2 and a quarter games
Played 8 games for us and scored 4 = 1 goal every 2 games

The difference between a £25m striker and a £3.5m (rising to £7.6m) striker :-D

How many did he score the season before we signed him? Was it something like 14 if I remember rightly?

Yes he was in double figures. He scored two hat-tricks for Pompey before December and was in a real purple patch.

Mate I don't blame the guy however these guys don't realise if they don't play the amount the get per week will drop once they do finally go to another team as not playing is gonna affect your salary elsewhere.
