Shaun Wright-Phillips has urged some sections of the Blues support not to start pressing panic buttons too early in the team’s development.
There were dark mutterings in some quarters before a sequence of seven successive Premier League draws was snapped by the 3-0 Carling Cup victory over Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Now though the Blues are back on track and buzzing with just one defeat on their record card since the start of the season seventeen games ago.

“The boss had a strategy and targets before the season started and we are only about two points off that at this stage of the season,” revealed Wright-Phillips.

"The main thing is that we are not losing. In the main we are doing the right things even though we have let ourselves and the fans down on occasions by losing leads we should have retained.

“Our fans are brilliant as they showed on Wednesday and I am sure they will do again against Chelsea but there has to be some patience.”

SWP is backing the Blues frontmen to cause plenty of problems of their own. “It does not matter if it is at home or away, it’s a matter of us all clicking at the same time which we have done from time to time this season. The fans have been patient and they’ve been great with us, because it takes time to gel, but with their backing we have it in us to really do our thing.

“Craig Bellamy, has really shut his critics up since coming here. I’m really happy for him, he’s been on fire for us this season and he’s scored some vital goals for us.

"Other strikers came in after him, but he raised his game. That’s Bellers’ character all over, he never bows down over anything, on or off the pitch! He just lets his football do the talking and I admire him for that.”

Craig seemed to have his swearing head back on last Weds which seems to bring the best out of him.
Thought he was gonna talk himself into a card at half time when he was giving to the ref.
Before Weds he had seemed a bit subdued and minding his language, maybe the cameras werent focusing on it but on Weds he seemed really fired up to me.

Bellamy is a fucking gem, most everyone else hates him but until he plays for your side you don't realise how valuable he really is, I think this is a good point to say I was wrong when I said we paid too much for him, could have been right if his knees had shot through and spent the season on the physio bed, but he has been absolutely vital this season.

Have to agree, I didn't think he was a good buy for us but both last season and this one he really turned around my opinion of him , he always gives 130% and with great quality too, most of the time.

Couldn't agree mor Slim, I hated him before we signed him and thought for 11mil we'd been done good and proper ... I was wrong, I'm loony enough to admit it

Agreed I thought we had been jacked with him and admit I was wrong about him and am happy to be wrong about it :). On topic though I honestly thought Shauny did so well on Wednesday as if you actually saw the game from the stadium (dunno if you could see this from TV) Shaun was unmarked practically the entire game. That gave him lots of room to get into position and run into the box as most the defenders seem to be pre-occupied mostly by Ade(who they seemed desperate to not let have a touch all game) and secondly by Bellers(who was running circles round them) who were both doing a great job at keeping them busy. That really was great teamwork by all 3 players and I hope they keep it up. If we can do something like that against Chelsea we have got a great chance.
