Santa Cruz - Pressure is on

Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz insists the whole squad are determined to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Big-spending City have stuttered in recent weeks after a bright start to the campaign with Saturday's draw with Hull a record seventh successive stalemate for Mark Hughes' men.

The run of results has seen the pressure grow on Hughes, but Santa Cruz is adamant the team are sticking together to end the slump in form.

"We haven't been playing bad in parts, we have been playing really good but it seems we are not just closing the games when we have the chances and then we are conceding goals for mistakes that shouldn't happen," Santa Cruz told Sky Sports News.

"You are just putting pressure on yourself, but I think we have a squad full of experienced players and then you can work it out in your favour.

"People are very keen on stopping us, they are really thinking how to make us lose points. We just need to stay focused and get rid of these succession of draws and just start winning."

Santa Cruz says everyone is fighting together to try and achieve City's aim of finishing in the top four this season.

"Pressure is on everyone," added Santa Cruz. "We have a clear aim for the season which is to get in to the top four and we have been dropping a lot of points with these draws which is not helping anyone.

"We are a team, a family, all of us are involved in this together.

"We are just not doing enough to win the games."

Cannot help but think this is RSC AGAIN talking to the press.. Maybe he should be actually getting match practice instead of giving interviews to reporters??

Sorry but if you hit me I'm gonna hit back. I apologize on behalf of the board if you thought you could go around and snipe who the fuck you wanted and nobody would respond. You were clearly deluded.

insult is a noun and a verb mate.

insult = "personal shot"

and do you understand the phrase "could be construed as an insult"?

stop being so fucking touchy - the topic was shite and you know it. just another thread to slag RSC off.

why may i ask? why the fuck are people so keen to put the boot into one of our players?

Vhero has found a way to have a go at RSC that isn't even related to his performances now. His crime is giving an interview in which he says that the team spirit is good, nobody can take their place for granted and the players will do their utmost to get out of the rut. It DOES all feed into the anti-Hughes agenda. Santa Cruz's hitherto poor displays are becoming a stick to beat Hughes with. I don't think it's any coincidence that the biggest critics of Hughes on here are also the biggest critics of Santa Cruz.

Wow you took my personal comment and completely ignored the interview eh? You all could have commented on the interview but instead you decided to comment on what I wrote instead. First of all I just think its funny that it's always RSC doing these interviews and not other players who may do the odd one. Second of all you completely missed the entire quoted article and all chose to have a pop at what I wrote which was having a pop at RSC. How fucking Ironic is that? This is exactly why this board is going to hell recently as instead of people starting a discussion they see one persons personal view on something and decide because they disagree they will take a shot at them.

I still cant see the problem in RSC giving a little interview after training or in fact being interviewed a few times this season at least he is intelligent and can string sentences together.

Not ironic at all. The problem with this board is unnecessary, directionless, unhelpful and repetitive threads like this. You used this interview as a means to have a go at Santa Cruz - but I don't see what's so bad about what he says. Everyone agrees that his performances are poor at the minute but finding any opportunity to have a go - especially one as deperate as this - is needless. You could easily have stuck this in the RSC/Scapegoat thread but then, of course, you wouldn't have got the personal attention.

what is going on in this thread? Sounds to me like RSC has just fed the media your typical diplomatic spiel, and i for one certainly don't disagree with what he said. lets stop with all the personal insults eh?

We're on the same page. But I can't see any personal insults, just good old-fashioned debate about the merits of this thread. I myself don't feel as though I've insulted anyone or been insulted.

Maybe its always women interviewers outside the training ground and they naturally flock to him for their story.

He's not said anything out of order or controversial so I'm not arsed.

Just hope his form picks up tbh
