More new sponsorship "power"

Another new deal tied up....with another Abu Dhabi owned entity....but this time a German company

Good news that we will be playing a Bundesliga outfit every pre-season for the next three years as part of this deal.....Schalke 04 anyone....SV Hamburg.....Werder Bremen.....good stuff

English Manchester City signed a new sponsorship deal with MAN Ferrostaal, a global provider of industrial services owned by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) from Abu Dhabi.

Part of the sponsorship deal, which will run until the end of the 2011/2012 season, involves perimeter advertising that will be visible at every home game in the Premier League and in domestic cup competitions, and at every home game in any international competition for which the team qualifies.

During the close season in each of the summers of 2010, 2011 and 2012, one game will be played against a German Bundesliga club in the region. MAN Ferrostaal will organise and stage these meetings in conjunction with the marketing agency SPORTFIVE. The opponents, venues and dates for these friendly matches are to be announced.

Manchester City and MAN Ferrostaal have agreed not to reveal the financial amount involved in this sponsorship deal.

"We are delighted to become partners with a company of the calibre of Ferrostaal. With their recently gained independence, they are embarking on an exciting period in their history just as Manchester City has entered its own bright new era," said Garry Cook, CEO of Manchester City.

"As a premium company, with world recognition in its field, Ferrostaal gives us the opportunity to continue to grow globally."

German but with strong ties with AD

IPIC own Ferrostaal

edit: like you say Ant Abu Dhabi owned, so presumably one that Platini (in Socrates world) will discount

Ferrostaal in AD

yeah that's the parent/holding company in AD, the agreement looks like it's been signed with the trading entity which is a German company

at least that is what the press release implies

it does emphasise the "Germanness" of Ferrostaal, you're right, and I guess that reflects that they don't want to look like just more family money. But as they are now owned by the AD govt. it just looks like same old same old. Would be nice to get an independent source (anyone who's strategically targeting AD for business presumably)
