Im usually positive about how our seasons gone, but todays got me down big time and im unsure where we go from here. Big game wednesday which could make or break our season. Whats the aim now?we will be very lucky to scrape to 4th liverpool will not get worse and we have no lead on them, spurs and villa look better teams than us. will we ever lose our typical city tag?today was one of those games, did hull even have chance?cant recall any, then they get a very very soft peno, pretty much sums us up.

Ok, I took break after the game before posting so that I wouldn't say anything out of order.

What can I say? We got squad full of dream team talent (and Roque Santa Cruz). We can't even compete win fucking Hull at home. I really don't know what to say. Personally I'm running out of ideas and Hughes has certainly run out of ideas as well. Looks like Keegan in his final months. He is desperate to make his system work but it's clear it isn't so he seems to complete lack any sort of plan b. It's time for him to admit that the kind of football he made his sides play in Wales and Blackburn simply will not work with world stars.

As always, results speak for themselves. Something needs to be done. Is it replacing Hughes or different system? I donät know. What I do know though is that we can't continue playing like this.

Im in the same mindset as you. Feel really down after today and just don't know where we go from here. We are still typical City and I'm worried that in typical City fashion we will mess up being the richest club in the world and never win a bean. I am probably being a tad over the top but I'm truely concerned.

Here's my comments form another thread about Plan B but they are relevant here I think: Hughes has repeatedly gone on about the need for options, the need for a variety of players in different positions, and the need to be able to change tactics mid-game..... but when have we seen this really happen ? When did he ever make a substitution or a tactical change that made the fans think "wow. I never saw that one coming"...

Exactly.
Besides, he said time and time again how he'd be looking to bring in players that would give us options during the summer. And he had ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD to do that. Despite that we are still as predictable as ever.

I'm not saying Hughes out by the way before someone jumps on my throat. We should see until christmas and judge things then as I've always said. I just want to see SOMETHING else.

Tevez at liverpool springs to mind?

Although I'm not trying to defend him, but Tevez did change that game - I suppose it wasnt a suprise sub though.

Come on, you know you want to? I'll say it for you if you like - HUGHES OUT!!! You have a genuine right to be smug because you were right all along - he isn't the man for the job and we're wasting our time with an ex-inexperienced tosspot who only knows one way of playing. I just don't know what he has to do get sacked - it's like living in a parallel universe we're everyone's gone bonkers ie. everyone just seems to praise him to high hilt despite his clear shortcomings as a manager.

To be fair to Hughes he put out a side that should really beat Hull at home.

Even in retrospect no-one seems to have any ideas re what could have been done differently - the players just didn't do enough to win on the day. Again.

But then maybe the required sense of belief and purpose should come from the manager and at the moment there's clearly summat badly wrong that he's currently failing to sort.

I feel pretty miserable and Wednesday looming very large on the horizon isn't helping. How we respond could well define our season. Anyone confident of a turnaround? I'm not at the moment and have no ideas what we should be doing differently, either tactically or selectionwise. Cannot get my head round it.

On the plus side, we're unbeaten in 7! And Bullard's celebration was quite funny.

Mega depressed with that result today, benefit of doubt in the game against Fulham, benefit of doubt in the game against Burnley as we came from two goals down. No benefit of doubt for this game. SEVEN draws in a row is not the form that will catapult us into the top 4. Or even the top six for that matter. Getting worried now as to where our season is heading. I seriously hope we are not going blow the best chance we have had for years to do something in the league and cup competitions. Wednesday game is now so vital i hope Hughes realises the magnitude of it and gets it across to the players.
If we get beaten on Wednesday the manner of the defeat will be vital as to whether Hughes keeps his job imo.

I've been in the Hughes in camp for pretty much all of his tenure here apart from December 2008 when we were in the bottom three, today and the last few weeks I think i've been convinced he can't take us to the next level. We were clueless for most of the game lumping the ball up to Ade and hoping for him to lay it of for Tevez or Robson time after time, it was like the midfield was non existent and was like watching the away side rather than the home one. We have a selection of world-class players yet we play like Blackburn at times there's no excuse for it.

In that second half we never once looked like finishing Hull off and they got more confident as a result and got what they deserved, a point. If we play like that against Chelsea and Arsenal in the coming week we will be hammered by both. The most frustrating thing about it is that when we actully got the ball down and played with abit of pace, we had Hull all over the place they couldn't live with us so why we insist on the long ball crap I will never understand.

I'm starting to believe that world-class players need a world-class manager to get the best out of them, and with Hidink available we may need to move because if this terrible football along with results continues, Hughes is a dead man walking.

One step closer to the Hughes out camp.

How about sticking with the formation that we play best 4.3.3 and select a team around it rather than play a formation to get certain players into the team. Of course we should be able to beat Hull with any 11 we put out but with a mixture of the selection issue and not playing well and getting the odd tough break we lack belief and it is showing in the players.

"How we respond could well define our season." If we don't get it right in the next 7 days it will define something.

Fair enough re the formation as the priority, makes sense and can't argue with it. But if the belief isn't there, even with the right formation and team selection, then the result isn;t gonna improve, which again boils down to the gaffer instilling it within the players.

I normally defend Hughes to the hilt, I liked all his signings, and am acutely aware of the problems associated with our revolving door managament policy over the last 20-30 years. Maybe it's just PMD, but I am finding it hard to be positive at the moment.

A convincing win on WEd, and everything will look a lot different.

Out of interest DH, would you play 433 against The Arse, and if so with which players?

I don't know where we go but I do know there was something wrong out there today. At times you could see that certain players were just not interested. For example, Ade thought he should've had a free-kick down in the corner but when he didn't get it, sat in the corner before drudging back without a care for the upcoming play. Tevez had the ball whilst 3 players stood holding hands in their box unable to move for him and the likes of Micah just watching the ball whilst their player passed it easily into the space he had left, which led to the penalty.

Like I said, I don't know what it is but the only serious attacking play that came out of today was all from Shaun who was then kicked from pillar-to-post without even a word from the ref.

You do realise its posts like this which makes things worse?

I am sure there have been times when people have had doubts about Hughes but then after reading some of teh over the top knee jerk reaction on here, then actually ended up defending him just trying to point out how ridiculous some of teh comments are.

"Out of interest DH, would you play 433 against The Arse, and if so with which players?"

I would play 4.3.3 in every game no matter who the opposition are. Ireland would be a key player as would Nigel as long as he isn't just breaking up the play which he does brilliantly.NDJ must be involved in starting and even joining in the passing movements. If he can't do that I would play Barry holding.

As for the front 3 I want 3 players with lots of movement skill and goal threat. Anyone who doesn't do it shouldn't get picked or should be subbed as we have plenty of options. Currently I would go for Ade/Robinho and Tevez ( on the right side) but as I said I would expect performances or others must be given chances. And Ade is in the last chance saloon for me as he isn't doing nearly enough.Having the option of SWP/Petrov/Bellers/Weiss/RSC on the bench is an exciting prospect and should put enough into those picked to play their socks off.
