People told me I'm clueless clown for saying that Cassell leaving would have bad influence on Academy.

It's nice to do well in the FAYC but it's by no means the main indicator in determining the success of the Academy. The quality of the players produced is most important.

Errr the once invincible youth team are too old now! The current lot aren't that good and for the last few years it has been known they would not be that good when they became the under 18's youth team.

He might. But again his ex youth side now playing for the reserves are not what I am referring to but why let that influence your opinion. The current under 18's are simply not a strong team and the ones just behind them are not either. It's not that they are rubbish or don't have any good and even very good players but they are not overall of the quality of previous teams.

Exclusive: Manchester City youth supremo rejects three offers to stay at Eastlands

Jim Cassell, the man who made Manchester City’s youth academy the envy of English football, has rejected three job offers from rival clubs to stay at Eastlands.

In an exclusive interview with Sunday Mirror Sport, Cassell has revealed how scurrilous suggestions that he was at war with City boss Mark Hughes fuelled rumours that he would quit the club.

Cassell, who has produced 27 first-team players in more than 12 years as academy director, has been tasked with setting up a youth development programme that will see City establish centres of excellence around the world.

It represents a promotion for the former local government officer.
So Cassell has been stung by claims that he has been marginalised by Hughes – and that he has a troubled relationship with new academy director Andy Welsh.

“I don’t have a any kind of problem with Mark Hughes, Andy Welsh – or anyone else at City,” said Cassell. “I’m not a friction kind of person.

“But because I have changed roles at the club some people have assumed all is not well.

“If I was unhappy I could have exploited it by taking a lucrative job with another club. I had three approaches asking me if I was interested in taking charge of their academies and I turned them all down.

“I came to City when we were about tobe relegated to the Second Division. Now we are probably on the verge of the most exciting era in the club’s history – and I want to be part of the trip from bottom to top.”

Direct quotes so must be all lies.

Clearly Hughes is guilty of putting some kind of mind control curse on Cassell
