So David Villa is back in the frame

Among several articles flitting about right now. Apparently he has now decided 'not to rule out any club or country as he only has a short playing career'.

I can understand why he might be sold in January - cash-strapped Valencia put off the inevitable by calling for cash from their members in the summer, those sensible ones who voted against well outvoted by those who voted with their heart.

So on the assumption that the members have now stumped up all they can, and all other desperate measures are more or less spent, Villa, Silva and Mata seem to heading out. Barca want the last 2, leaving Villa for us.

There's no way on this earth we should let SCUM sign him, we need to blow their offer right out of the water, just tp piss them off again if nothing else!

if he is available i have no doubt city will go all out to get him, but how long has this story done the rounds in the build up to every transfer window? its so hard to get excited about.

Best striker in the world. Don't think we have any real chance though.
Also, what IF we could pull this off? How the fucl do we line up? What happens to Robbie and Tevez? Or Ade?

He will go to whichever club Valencia sell him to I.E: The highest bidder! Chelsea want Ribery more than David Villa, can't Abromovich consenting to sign both.

Would love to sign Villa, but would rather sign Silva. In fact both would do very nicely

I think if we are in a top 4 spot come January we have a serious chance of getting him to sign if we ain't then we can kiss it goodbye. Considering our lineup until January now we could really pull it off too. Would love him in a City shirt and his best man and fellow country man is only down the road so it would be win win for him rather than going Chelski. However as for blowing the rags out the water with cash? I doubt Mark Hughes would try them kind of mad money offers ever again after the whole Kaka ordeal.

I dont know about that mate. Yes we could be the highest bidder but Villa would still have a say in where he goes! And the second thing is, Is there to much competition for him and have we really got a chance of signing him?

Would bloody love to have him though!!

Well documented that we bid higher than scousers for Torres and obviously about £40 million higher that Real did for Kaka.

If it was that easy to just offer bigger dough, then we would have already signed most of the worlds' best players but it just don't work like that mate.

I know its mad ain't it?? You would think the clubs would accept the highest offers only eh? But fuck it loyalty to the player and all that :p

But clubs do accept the highest offers mate but thats just the start of the buying process and no guarentee the player will sign for the highest bidder! We out bid the rags and spurs accepted our bid for berberov but he didn't want to know!
Kaka eventually went to Madrid for far less than we alledgedly bid (although the club never accepted the bid).
Bidding the most is one thing but there are so many other factors that affect deals for 'marquee' players!
Surely we've learnt that much in the last year or so.

hmm was just thinking about this before, as Ive been playing with Spain on PES haha. He was the genuine one target that had me going crazy with excitement at the time (along with kaka) I believed he was the BEST striker in the world. Hows he doing now? I think its bullshit though tbh we hear these done deals with villa every window and i think its clear he doesnt want to come.

Last report I heard, Chelsea were after Kun Aguero, had agreed to a price(£40M) but were balking at his personal demands and agent fee.

Sorry my fault I meant to write the clubs would ONLY accept the highest bid. Your right the players do try to force to issue though thats the problem but if you feel you don't owe the player anything and in the Berba case I would have told him to fuck off. Thank god they didn't though.

Timing mate. We bid for Torres after Liverpool had been doing the deal for weeks and about 12 hours before he signed. Dont go there with Kaka/Berlusconi!! Modest though our achievements are, we've been playing poker at the big money table for a while now and are much more of a prospect. If we ARE interested we will have been speaking to both Valencia and Villa's people for some time now.
