Training Monday 23/11

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Mon Nov 23, 2009 3:25 pm

Well it was back to the old routine today but I was late setting off as I was awaiting a call from Vicky Kloss about you know what.So today I will use the post from my good mate Neil on BlueMoon as he was there from the start

Afternoon all

On my way to Costco i thought i'd pop my head in and see what was happening this morning.

Got a nice surprise, when all the training took place outside of the blocked off area.

There was no Lescott, Toure or Barry. Petrov and Silvinho were working with the fitness coaches.

Got there around 10.45 and the Keepers including Shay, were playing head tennis, then the main squad came out and whilst not doing anything too strenuous and the weekend were put through the usual ball work and stretching drills.

Some of the group were put through a bleep test which was mainly the team from Saturday and the rest played a short sided game.

It finished with all invloved with the 4 small nets, 3 touch, some good skill in this routine, although the weather was awful.

Got to have a good chat with Mark Bowen, i think he was after my brolly, about how things are going and how disappointed they were on only getting a draw on Saturday, no mention of why the fencing has gone up, but if it works out that early in the week we get to see them and the tactical stuff gets done behind the curtain nearer matchday then I suppose that's not too bad.

I believe DH has had a chat with Vicky Kloss from the club with regards to access but as yet nothing to report really.

All in all a quieter day on the training side but a welcome bonus getting to see them, Robbie doesn't look far away at all some class touches this morning.

NMT

And boy was the weather foul. Interesting and really great that Mark B should come over to chat as did Eddie later , which does suggest that they ( the management) don't really have a problem with us being there and it is the photographers press that are the issue. As NMT said some great play in the session today which wasn't about tactical stuff but lots about pass and move and ,although I say it a lot ,it was as ever very competitive.

On the positives it was indeed great to see Robinho playing with plenty of swagger and growing confidence I think that the injury is behind him. Weiss looked good and one player I thought was really up for it was Micah. No doubt he won't be happy not to be playing , he shouldnt be but the best way to go about it all is to perform as best ha can in training and then the same when he next gets picked.

A few of the first teamers will be in the reserves tonight for a run out. Johnno , Garrido , Benjani and one other who I can't remember. Maybe Vinnie. A NMT said Petrov was working with a fitness coach and to me looked sharp and probably over the injury so even more optiions likely to be available.

On the Vicky Kloss thing I did have a call from her today about the whole situation and she was great. She confirmed completely the issue around the fencing is all about photographs which get into the papers with potentially bad story lines attached and nothing to do with any training reports. She is aware of the relationship we have with Bowen, Eddie and others and will see what she can do. It may be nothing much needs to be done anyway as it is possible that only the one pitch will be enclosed and that will be the one used when anything is worked on which they don't want known. If that is the case better measures wil have to be put in place anyway as the papps can still get pictures from various vantage points anyway even though 200+ yards away.

VK will be speaking probably with Mark H soon and whatever is going to happen will be sorted quite quickly I am sure

She is the blonde haired girl you often see hanging around in the entrance of the tunnel at home games before the players come out.

Sounds positive, great report as per.

I feel a bit daft as I thought NMT meant 'Now My Turn' when I read it half way through!

Interesting dilemma for Hughes if Rob da Souz and Rigsby are both fit, I dunno what I'd do. Prob start with Riggers. It might be raining after all!

PLeased to hear of Micah's reaction to being dropped, sorry, 'rotated' - it might be the kick up the arse he needs. Can anyone fill me in on how he's been playing for the U21's? Maybe Zabba would benefit from the same treatment, after giving away such a daft and crucial free kick against the mickey mousers.

Doug I think the site should hire you a scissor-lift for when they are behind the boards!
