Training Tuesday 16/11

Nothing! Only what I expected but I went down to see if I could find out the weeks schedule. All I saw were the reserves out training ( they have a game tomorrow) plus workmen erecting fence posts around the pitch that has undersoil heating.

I asked the workmen what the plan was and they said they didn't know and were just doing what they were told. Apparently the plan is to erect the fences around each of the training pitches so that it will be much harder to see what's going on and specifically so that photographers can't take the pictures they like to take. The fencing will be permanent but the sheeting that goes in them or on them will be set up depending on which pitch is to be used.

So it remains to be seen whether I will be able to see anything from behind the first fencing and then over the second or whether there is a remote chance that I will get inside ( I doubt that somehow... maybe it's me they want to keep out really?)

Didn't really find out much about training this week either. A few were in ( Zabba the only one named) but plenty still away on international duty. I expect all the England boys + a few will train tomorrow so will go along and test the water.

Doug, have you asked MB or any of the others whether you can have an honorary visitors pass for all the straining sessions? It cannot do any harm as they have read your posts and that you do not post inflammatory material to try and create something out of nothing. I hope they do let you in... we should start a campaign ;-)

Maybe a banner at the ground, "all we are saying, is give Doug a pass"

He did say a while back that if they put fencing up I would be allowed in but I don't see that as practical. I just can't see one fan let in if there are say a dozen there. We will just have to see.

I can see them doing something similar to what WW suggests to be honest.

Fact is, despite the fact that you and NMT do this as fans and for no "agenda" I'm pretty positive that the newly fan focussed set-up realise that (sensationalist "characters" on the forums aside), the inside view on what is happening which permeates through to fan communities as a result of your reports has a pretty positive effect in keeping extreme reactions in check.

What I am getting at is, sure, only a tiny proportion of City fans use the forums in reality but those who do so are bound to share a lot of the bits we learn about the squad, set up, preparation for and reaction to matches/results with their City fan mates.

I know that I certainly do so.....and it does give everyone a much more balanced insight.

eg. Mirror reports that Robinho is off.....but on the forums you hear that he's looking happy and settled every day at training. Sure it doesn't mean that the worry goes away but I'm positive it would make many who might be inclined to get on his back at the match think twice as to the veracity of the reports....at least not taking the red tops' word as gospel

I am sure that the club recognise the wisdom of allowing this "insider's view" to be communicated to the masses in this way....and I'm pretty positive they won't cut it off.

Sure it might be a bit of a pisser for those who wanna drop in and see their players up close for a morning.....but they obviously want to cut off unfettered access for valid reasons

Top work as always DH. The position of fences is very important ... and I'm sure you'll get your pass (you deserve to anyway)

I do hope you continue to be able to get in and feed us daily training reports Doug. You and the other chap from the other place should be allowed in.
