England's back four

I realize today is a friendly, and a good chance to give players who are in the squad but not normally in the starting eleven a chance to play. But if this were a qualifier and Terry and Rio were hurt as they are now, I really wonder how sad things are if Lescott is the 4th best choice in the middle, considering his current form. On top of that with Bridge playing the way he has, is he really the next best left back after Cashley?

England are arguably playing one of the top 3 teams in the world, and 1/2 of City's porous back line (and arguably the weakest of the normal 4) are starting this match for country. I am just wondering how disconcerting this is.

In fairness in the first 15 both Lescott and Bridge have made some good saving tackles, but I am still not sure this is who England would like to trust their world cup hopes in case of injury.

Wes Brown is fuckin dogshit. If he wasn't a scum player he wouldn't get a sniff of an England cap.

SWP MOTM for me so far.

I don't acknowledge the existence of any rag. You point is fair, but I was just saying how poor their form as been in PL for City. And yes, I said they were playing well in the OP.

Just a thought but who is the best for right back if Johnson is missing? Certainly it shouldnt be Brown but we also know Micah isn't the answer.

That Arsenal kid Gibbs? Or is he a left-back?

Its a long shot but Ned can play there.Unless he gets a chance to play there for City and prove he can do the bizz its highly unlikely Fabbio wud pick him.Like i said its a long shot but possible. He has the skill, pace and ability to slot right in there imo.

If I recall wasn't Micah playing in the center back for us, and when called up to the NT moved to right back?

Gibbs is a left back , Micah isn't good enough and Nedum isn't a right back.

I thought Lescott and Bridge had a good game today, along with Shaun and Bazza. Brown was poor for both goals and Rooney may as well have stayed in Taggarts sack, and taken Bent there as well. We just didn't create, and no one seemed interested in taking it to them.

In the history books it will go down as a 1-0 loss for a second string England team against a near full strength Brazil team.

When you have to select dogshit like Foster, W Brown, Upson, Lescott, and Bridge then you know you are fucked, not to mention they were playing against the best team in the world and they only decided to bother in flits and spurts.

Who was that Brazilian who set up the goal?, he is a good player him, City could do with a player like that available to them for some sort of creativity in midfield, as we don't have one of them types of players now.

Lets get this thing sorted, I support the Club, not the players, players come and go and I do have my fave players just like everybody else that I enjoy watching and would like City to play, but Lescott and Bridge are not and never will be good enough for the level we are at now as a club (Premiership) nor ever dream of International standard, I cheer England on as a whole, but the standard of back-up players is woeful, and that was evident today.

I thought Bridge was rubbish again, Lescott did okay today, but Brazil still got through that backline without any trouble, only 4 of that squad of players who participated today should be on the plane to SA, and the rest, I would advise not to worry about renewing their passports or getting a Visa for SA, as they won't need it......the ones who should be going from that garbage today are...SWP, Rooney, Barry and Defoe

Watching the highlights; lescott and bridge looked good 1st half.

Maybe were getting like the scum were players can play shite and still get picked for england. Cant think of anyone else for LB or RB though! Obviously Brown shouldnt play, but imagine Micah getting picked! Thats 3/4 of our defence. And the only defender playing well at the moment is TOURE!

Bridge is havin a good season for City and is now decent backup in the England squad for when Cashley is unjured.
Lescott was a tower at the back for Everton but has been decidely average for City..Today for England he proved what a good defender he is.
Yes we all have our favourites in the team, but to simply right them off at this stage in time and say there shite is bloody daft if you ask me.

It could be that you are correct on Lescott time will tell but the big deference could be the way the managers use them

Correct.
Cappello does have the experience and knowhow as a manager to make things work. Im sure if England were at full strength we would have given Brazil a tough time.
Hughes on the other half needs to sort out who his best team is and get them to defend better as a unit. The last few games have not been upto standard. However im still fairly happy at this stage and confident we will improve.
