How many players and how much Dough

Do you think it will take for us to be geniune title contenders next season?

I reckon we need 5 players minimum costing around £130m.

Positions I feel we need to improve are

Left Back - (Lahm, Cole, Grosso) - £20m

Right Back - (Maicon, Alves, Srna) - £20m

Winger - (Joaquim, Silva, Mancini) - £25m

Playmaker - (Xavi, Iniesta, Modric, Van der Vaart) - £15m - £40m

Striker - (Villa, Aguero, Pato) - £30m - £50m

I reckon that is the quality of player we will need to win the league, in all those positions, and until we fill these positions with this quality, we will just be pushing 4th but not running away from the rest. By the way, don't think i'm saying that we will get these players that I named, just that that is the quality we're gonna need to be champions.

Not as many for me.

To win the league I would think we need a RIGHT BACK for sure and an outstanding midfielder who can do it all (Cesc Fabregas for example)

The one thing we really need, which money cannot buy, is time. This squad needs to settle down and get a good 40 games played together, especially the defence and then we will look like title contenders.

That is my hope for next season.

Lahm is right footed by the way - playing leftback but has expressed his desire to play on the right. We could grant him his wish....
Oh and Marcell Jansen for leftback please. (I think he's still at Hamburg)

Man for man, I dont think there is a lot to chose between our squad and the rags who appear to be putting a title challenge together again, and we certainly have better quality in depth. We just lack the winning mentality - and that is down to the boss to sort out.

We are probably short of a decent right back to make us solid in each position, but I would prefer to learn more about Hughes by seeing how he fares with his team before going out spending loads more, as we will learn nothing about the players we already have if we look to replace/upgrade them after 12 months.
