Robinho to Barca? [MERGED]

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Robinho to Barca? [MERGED]

Postby mr_nool » Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:54 pm

The Spanish paper Sport, reports that Barca wants to loan Robinho in January with an option to buy in the summer. Guardiola wants more cover up front, due to Champions League.

According ot the paper Barca representatives will meet with City ditto in Abu Dhabi in December, but City are more interested in a sell, than in a loan spell.

Sport also claims that Robinho is unhappy in England.

... Loads of bollox, I hope.

I don't really get the problem here.

Robinho is loved by the fans, he will start the majority of games when fit, he is being paid £170k a week, we've signed some real top class players over the last 6 months or so and if he stays here for a while he will most likely end up with cult hero status in the history of MCFC.

Secondly, if he does go to barcelona, albeit an awesome team he will struggle to get in the side, he will get a load of shit from the Real Madrid supporters at least twice a season and he'll have to take a considerable paycut to go there. He will no doubt also be branded as a mercenary.

Loaning him would be absolute madness. The two reasons why loans are usually done is to get an underperforming player off the wage bill (Shevchenko, Danny Mills etc etc) or a young player to garner experience.

A) We have plenty of money so is irrelevant getting him off the wage bill.

B) He's 25

and

C) He's a world class player for christs sake! You don't send world class players out on loan!

If we sell him for pure cash again that would be stupid as it's not money we need, it's talent! I can only see it happening if it involves swaps for players and even then I would want first teamers off Barca for him.

I hope Hughes' people skills are up to scratch as I reckon if Robinho does have any unhappiness in him I think a good talk and an arm round the shoulder is all he needs.

I'm convinced that within the next year, Robbie will be a Barca player and Yaya will be a City player.

Has gone on record many times just lately about how he would love to play for Barcelona, have also heard from many people that it’s a matter of when not if, apparently he hates Manchester, the weather, food etc.

I see him going,

I personally wont be that arsed, let them have the temperamental little fcuker and his baggage, I am sure our club will get a good player in return plus cash.

If the above did happen I'd want us to go for Franck Ribery.

When he is on fire he is almost unstoppable,
Unfortunately he does seem to play a little hot and cold, but he has got his first season under his belt so I expect him to find his feet easier this year, not that he had a bad year last year.

Would I want to see Robbie leave, absolutely not, I hope he stays with us and becomes a City Legend

but we are a completely different outfit these days, so if he did go, we could go back into the transfer market no problem, as someone already said....Ribery!!??

We haven't seen him play yet this season as he wasn't fit at the start anyway. Give the guy a break and look forward to watching his amazing talent when he is back fit.

As for Ribery I would have thought 0% chance whilst His team are in the chumps league

I love Rob and don't want to see him go, but I think the biggest damage to us, would be the loss of name/status. It might be more difficult to convince top class players to come here, if we can't hold on to the ones we have manage to sign.

Strange, all that I've heard is that he wants to take us to the next level and to win everything with Man City, so to call him a tempremantal liitle fucker and his baggage seems to be somewhat misleaing and judgemental; without any real evidence.

By the way, well done EDGE, probably the best post I've ever read from you, and that's not biased because I like Robby!

I think it’s fair to say he is temperamental mate; it was well documented last season.

These stories linking him with Barcelona have been around for a while, when Robbie has been asked he has poured petrol on the flames by confessing that he would love to play for such a big club blah blah blah.

Personally I think he is nearing full fitness sees himself sat on the bench, and his ego wont allow it, hence the stories starting to circulate again, I think he was going to Barcelona next summer anyway, but will now push for the move in January.

I think you know deep down he is going to expect to walk straight back in to the side when he is fit, and if it doesn’t happen there will be trouble ahead, it’s the Robby way.

Robinho Quote (back in September)

"""It's not easy to say no to a club like Barcelona,' he said while on international duty with Brazil.

'They are European champions, they're in a lovely city and I like Spain a lot.

'I have always wanted to play at clubs like Barcelona. It's a great club, any player would be happy for them to show an interest.

'I'm happy that Barcelona have taken notice of me. Who wouldn't like to play alongside Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Lional Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and all the rest. I like Barcelona; they're a great club.'"""

Is this the Robby way? From what I've seen and heard he is not half as petulant as what people make out, in fact, it's probably the opposite, he wants to play and win games. And yes, I can understand that if he doesn't play he'll want out, which is quite natural. But at the same time, this is all conjecture because of everyones newfound love for Craig and the thought that we all know Hughes and understand that Robby isn't a player that he can afford; or can he?

To put it quite bluntly mate he signed for City for the money, he was looking for a quick exit from Real Madrid because he knew he had no future, of course all his sound bites regards us have been positive whilst none of the perceived bigger clubs have been interested in taking him, then as soon as he learned Barcelona were interested in him he basically pimped himself to them.

Like I said the story linking him to Barcelona started before this season had even kicked off, I was told back in August that next summer Yaya Toure was coming to City whilst Robinho was going to Barcelona, this deal I believe nearly took place before this season kicked off except Yaya was reluctant in giving up Champions league football and moving to City, however what we are seeing now at Barcelona is Yaya being effectively pushed out the first team and forced in to a move to City maybe as soon as January, basically politics at work here,I would not be surprised to see Yaya in a City shirt come January.

Regardless of whether I think Robinho is a great player of not, I believe he wants a move to Barcelona..

I am not an ITK I just hear many rumours like we all do.

Mate, you are trying to talk to me as if I'm a Robbie lover, which I am not. We'll wait for Jan and if he goes, well played for him and well played for us, but until then, let's enjoy his company. Afterall, he's one of the biggest selling points for our club in Worldwide promotion, and that's where it's at!

Do people actually think he is world class. I find this gets banded about a lot the words "world class" and IMO robby is not. Just does not do it enough for me and I would not put him in the same bracket as your Messi's and Ronaldo. They both equally turn up in the big games and the ones against so called lesser teams. Not saying he can't be but just feel he needs to do
more. I guess it's now debatable if that will be with City.
