This Weekends Internationals Thread

Well, I'm still hoping that one of my locals is showing the England game but I am also going to catch a couple of other games. First up will be the Wales v Bosnia/Herzegovina (U21) and possibly some of the Ireland v Italy (got a party later). Following that, I'm recording Argie v Peru game. Note that they are all on Sky and all have a Man City presence.

Anyway, who will you be watching and hoping to win?

PS. Wales, Ireland and Argies wins for me!

We are playing Wales tonight. Spotted Wayne Hennessey and some other Welsh player when I left work last night so they are apparently staying somewhere nearby. Shame I couldn't spot my new hero Bellamy. Maybe Hughes is in town as well. On a second thought, better lock the door and seal the windows tonight after I come back from the game.

The one time you actually want him to post and he's nowhere to be found.

Still 0-0 in the dutch/aussie game. Dutch have them pinned back though.

I'm starting to get the serious shits with international football. I just view as a weekend without City and decent football in general these days.

I'm feeling the same at the moment. The thing that's done it for me is this fuck up with not showing England. What interest does it generate if you can't actually see your National team play, the camaraderie of getting into a packed pub and watching your team make it to Biggest event in the World.

Pissed me off this as!

Yeah, this is a friendly.

Aussies are in the Asian qualifying group and were the first country to qualify for the world cup.

check the post above yours, you cheeky monkey!

Our game tonight, there's nothing to play for us there and draw would secure our third spot in the group. I reckon we will field some youngsters so it could go either way. If we would be playing with our first choice team, I'd say we'd win no problem. This current Welsh team is really light weight. Right now I wouldn't bet anything either way though. i reckon both sides would settle for draw though in what is completely meaningless encounter.

Wales supporters tend to be good bunch (we've been on same group fair few times over the years) so overall should be nice evening.

Was just looking at the FIFA website, noted that Oz romped it, but then again, there didn't seem to be too much competition.

Also, noticed Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire) are nearly there but Togo are down in third.

Ha ha, sorry mate, missed your post. Hope you have a great night and although you can't qualify, it'd be good for you to say that you Finnish'ed above the likes of Wales and just missed out on a place in the finals.

For anyone remotely interested:

[urlnp=http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/europe/standings/index.html]FIFA Link[/urlnp]

PS. Anyone know how to change the Link name to something like 'FIFA Link', and how to do it in a new window so it doesn't take you off the site? The 'URLNP=' doesn't seem to work for me!

Is this on Brit TV? My sister was talking about going to the game, but I'm not sure if she's bothered in the end.

I'm watching Estonia-Bosnia tonight if I can get a stream, and Slovakia v Slovenia would be my pick as the most interesting fixture of the day, especially with Weiss thrown in as a bonus for us.
