I am so glad this guy has nothing to do with our club. As Sol Campbell said - "If you have money, things happen quickly." This guy is a fraud!!

Portsmouth's players have been assured that they will be paid the wages they are owed within the next 48 hours.

Some players were not paid earlier in the week because of "a delay in the transfer of funds" following Sulaiman al Fahim's recent takeover.

Al Fahim took control of the club in August but doubts have constantly surrounded his financial suitability.

The club, who are bottom of the Premier League, sold several of their highest earners in the last transfer window.

Those players included England internationals Glen Johnson and Peter Crouch.

"Portsmouth FC can confirm that the first-team squad and executive board was not paid yesterday (Wednesday)," a statement read.

"The club is currently being refinanced by the owner Sulaiman al Fahim following the recent completion of his takeover.

"There was a delay in the transfer of funds but the lawyers have received confirmation that this will happen today which will enable the players to be paid within the next 24 to 48 hours. The players have all been informed of the situation.

"The executive board will continue to help the new owner in his efforts to refinance which has come about as a direct consequence of the banks' requirements to retain all television receipts and profits generated during the transfer windows."

Al Fahim recently told the club's supporters he will inject £50m into the club within the next month.

It is likely the funds will largely be used to clear a reported £40m debt and Al Fahim also insisted his finance plan was guaranteed by international institutions and is backed by firm commitments.

Portsmouth lost their seventh straight Premier League match on Saturday when they were defeated 1-0 by Everton.

The only side to ever lose their first seven and avoided being relegated was Liverpool exactly 100 years ago.

I dont think there has every been a time when players havent paid and they blame it on a delay on funds that it doenst happen again the next month and the next. Until the club finally have to go into administration.

Not paying players on time is a sure fire sign they are screwed.

This bloke's not the Sheikh but he's most definitely got money & plenty of it, so I'm not sure what this is about. Perhaps he doesn't have ready cash & that's why it's taking time.

If this was happening to my team I'd be feeling sick in the stomach. Just what you need when you're setting record-breakingly bad form. Disgruntled players, uncertain finances and nervous fans. Horrible.

Theyve spent waaayyyyyy beyond their means for years and are now paying the penalty. Sulamain, even if he can afford to keep paying the wages, will not find life so glamorous in the lower reaches of The Coca Cola championship.

It will all end in tears.

Whats happened to the "best fans in the premiership" by the way? They can barely gather 17k together now things have gone shit-shaped. Amazing eh? Another little speedboat club that have had their 5 minutes of fame and can eff off back to oblivion for the next 20 years.

On the contrary. In the wake of OUR transfer it became apparent that this feller is no serious player himself but toys with other people's money. He has some interests in building industry but certainly not in level your average Premiership Club owner should.

I think he bought the club and didn't expect them to do so bad, now they are doing so bad hes lost interest already and doesn't wanna pump money into them no more. You can see them coming up for sale come January.

this could be no more than a property deal.
Run the club down, sell the assets.
The Chairman must know the value of his building plot cos they were going to move weren't they?

That's also a possibility.

The money's there now apparently, just a delay in being transfered over. Players etc to be paid tomorrow according to Hart. Could be a Franny Lee situation where he's found out that thre's a load of crippling hidden debts to be paid before they can spend money.

How do you asset strip a club with no assets?

He clearly has no cash, otherwise they wouldnt be paying for players on the never never, or taking out a loan (or claiming to take out a loan) to run the club, if he had any money he could do it himself. You have to wonder why he's bothering.

As Bluto says, he's a Del Boy. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... mouth.html

Think back about 18 months and that was us! How did you feel, personally when Wardle had to lend Frank £2m to pay the wages I decided to ignore the fact at the time and blamed it on short term case flow.

Make no mistake, if our Sheik hadn't of bought us I think we would have lost near enough everything as a club.

He has been removed as head of Hydra properties fairly recently, there's a facebook group of disgruntled
depositers who have paid thousands in deposits for homes/apartments that are sat unfinished on empty
building sites. The guy is a clown.

That's interesting. When he was fronting the sheikh's bid I looked him up on several sites & he was listed as owning tower blocks & all kinds of shit & being worth fortunes. Perhaps he'd bullshitted the people involved & doesn't actually own anything.
