Without doubt
The best goalkeeper i have ever seen in a City shirt.
The best goalkeeper in the premier league.
The best signing Mark Hughes has made and probably will ever make.
What a world class keeper he is, we are lucky to have him.

Same here mate agree on all the points you make, Hughes pulled of a master stroke plucking him out of the Toon when they were (yet again) in termoil. £6.5million was day light robery. ;-)
Gareth Barry for £12million was also an amazing piece of buisness by the club.
Well done City.

Honestly, he is definitely one of the best goalkeepers I have ever seen in a City shirt. (par Isaksson ; ) )
Mark Hughes' best purchase as of yet!

have to agree he's been nothing short of amazing for us and has saved us from a couple of embarrassing results - Hughes needs to sort the defence out as the better teams will tear us to shreds

" You can pay your 30M for Robinho, your 14 for Bellamy, 12 for Bridge, and the list goes on, BUT, the best piece of business that Man City will do this season, without doubt, will be Shay Given. He will save them numerous points."

Totally agree re Shay and Barry
I was in a bar in Cyprus watching the game on a big screen - I tried to just focus on Barry as I have been massively impressed with his poise and the control he give us - he was immense!!!
I had not realised what a good player he is - absolutely fantastic - and Shay was just his usual excellent self

Him between the post for the next 10 years would suit me. At 33 he only has about 4 - 5 years left.

His positional sense is incredible...brilliant keeper...over the next few years he could be to us what Schmeichel was to them across the road

AMEN
ps letting Dunnie go will prove to be a big mistake. He was not the problem. Getting Richards and Bridge sorted is now urgent.

He's the best keeper in the league imo.
I really like Hart and was very disappointed for him when we signed Given but the difference in quality is there for all to see. Even on Givens first game against Boro how many of those saves would have hit hart and gone to another Boro player.
The difference between and top class keeper Given and Hart is that whilst Hart doesn't look like he makes mistakes, he doesn't make saves he has no right to save. Given makes at least one a game.
I know Givens brother in law, He loves it at City and reckons the move has rejuvenated his career.

Eh?
Can you tell me WTF is wrong with Bridge?!
I think he's been excellent this season already!

Bridge has been amazing this season, I wonder who predicted that....hmmm. ;-)
But this is about Shay and you can tell the difference between Hart and Given by where the defence sets up. They have confidence to push further up knowing that we have a world class keeper behind them. Once the defence settles down and people get the fuck off Micah's back(yes, you), we will look amazingly solid with Shay marshaling the backline.

I've watched this video 3 or 4 times when we were linked to signing him. Soon we'll be able to put together our own little vid.
His debut against Boro was the most impressive keeping debut I've seen.
Now that Cech has gone off the boil (ever since he got his head kicked in) and VDS and Friedel have both got too old he really is the stand out keeper in the league.

Still can't help remembering those daft posts - "We shouldn't sign Given, it will upset Joe Hart".
LOL
Our whole season could have taken a different turn already without Shay. Clough's first move at Forest was to pay a million for a keeper. Everyone thought he was mad but it was Shilton that won them the League.

Hart lets in a goal = smirk on his face
Given needs to make a save = expression on his face looks like someone's wiped out his entire family

Absolute legend in the making no doubt about it.
I knew for a fact he would be anyway... playing in front of the worst defence in the prem for 10 years gets you lots of practice!
I've watched him in every single international match and he has always been a saviour.
Long may it continue!
