It says on that page that we have played in it before, finishing runners-up in 1982. Does anyone remember that? I have got no recollection of that at all.

What about Villa, Spurs, Forest and Ipswich? We lost the final in 1982

As Clive Tyldlesley once said (and has repeated every 2 minutes since) 'That night in Barcelona'.
If someone had told you 4 years ago that one team would be winning a trophy at the Nou Camp in front of 93,000 spectators whilst the other was struggling to a defeat away at Burnley, I can't believe any of us would have really believed it would be us in Spain.
I think last night could have been another little marker towards the coming shift in power we can all look back on. Yes it was only a friendly, but look at the recent invitees. Barca haven't lost it since 1989, except on penalties to Juve. We are being taken seriously and maybe we need to take ourselves more seriously too. That night in Barcelona indeed.

I know it was only a friendly, but:
ireland was immense - how many times did he track back and make a quality tackle (even on Messi, what does Trappatoni know!)
our goal was mint
They battered us possession wise, esp the second half but it was a great defensive performance (even from TBH and Dunne)
Ned is a natural defender
Weiss is going to be a star
Given could well be our best signing

Everyone put a shift in last night...even though they had the lions share of possession we contained them fantastically
Weiss was the stand out for me...young lad was completely unfazed by the occasion...think he is going to get quite a few run outs this season

One of the high spots for me was Weiss landing that free kick on Gareth Barry's head. That's a real piece of football which would happen in a real game. Weiss tends to be a bit headless imo atm but the ability on the ball is obvious, he's quick & he's willing to track back. If he can also produce quality like that from dead ball situations; what a player we have.

He reminds me of Arshavin for some reason...
