But will we gather to praise Ceaser or bury him?

It is somehow fitting that the deciding game of Mancini's City career should be against the club we are in many ways trying to emulate.

I like to read your posts mate but come on. Whatever the views on managers, isn't it a bit premature to putting up comparisons?

It's as if the Worlds gone mad and fans wnat us to go back to the 90's where we changed managers as often as underwear. Are we not giving him until the end of the season........at least?

Its 'Manager Idol' the show where you get to pick the City manager. Thats right folks every candidate gets 15 games and then you vote for your favourite candidate. So first up is Roberto. Roberto is 43 and is Italian. Tell us a bit about yourself Roberto.

"Weel its no important but I manage Inter and win Serie A and the Copa Italia with ah Lazio and then..."
"Yes thats very nice Roberto but tell me we don't seem to be charging forward anymore now surely that is the way to success?"
"Weel ah no it is important that the players, and they are good players, it is important that they concentrate and work as a team..."
"Yes but Roberto we are used to scoring at least 3 goals in every game with lots of attacking and hopefully the defence coping with the holes at the back"
"Ah no that is good but you see top ah teams and players they have how you say discipline? And it is important..."
"I'm sorry Roberto I am sure that is very interesting but frankly its not really for us and your 15 games have been patchy and whilst you have marginally improved the league position on the previous manager it has been a bit dull at times and we honestly feel that if you were that good a manager then you would have won all the games with lots of style so I can't see you scoring very highly with the public so its back to you Brucie and our next candidate"
"Yes thank you Tess, whats with that Roberto and this Serie A business, this isn't Italy you know Roberto. Now can we have the next candidate please"

I have seen the future and it is here :)

Got it spot on today IMO - looked a bit negative in the first half but frustrated them. Then hit them on the counter in the second half which worked a treat. Really happy after today, we just need a bit of consistency now.

No ex-Arsenal payers on the pitch and we win 4-1, with ex-Arsenal players we lose he last fie minutes 1-0.

Mancini is certainly a fighter. Stoke fans goading him "sacked in the morning" and nex match we only go and thrash the leaders of the Premier League quarter finalists in FA Cup and Champions Leaue and 15 month no loss home league record. AWESOME!

Roberto whatever you put in their cereal today keep getting extra supplies. A bottle full of De Jong and a sprinkling of Tevez.

Really really enjoyed that second half - absolutely pulsating game.

Hat's off to Roberto/players (especially our two best players - that's Bellamy and Tevez in case you're still struggling Bob ;)

Really made my weekend and I said even when we were 2-1 up and eleven v eleven, if we had drawn or narrowly lost, I would have come on here and said I was proud of everyone involved.

So to say I'm ecstatic is an understatement!

Play with that belief from now on and I'm one happy bunny!

Same here, I was thinking that during the game, they stood up to be counted against a top side & win or lose you can't argue with that.

No its not unfortunately as I'm not comparing our managers decisions, I am comparing our Board of Directors decisions. They sacked Hughes as they said he wasn't able to deliver what they needed from him, that is to say a manager that can win us the league.

Therefore, I'm doing these comparisons to see how much better Mancini is than Hughes.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned, so apologies if it has been, but it was often muted that Hughes was a young manager and therefore still learning his trade. It was a bit of a fallacy, as Hughes is less than 12 months younger than Mourinho and is the same age as Taggart was when he headed south with a stack of medals. However, just checked, and Mancini is a year younger than Hughes.

So, Mancini has come to the tough English league from an easier league, with a few cups and titles under his belt whilst still relatively young. He's struggling early on whilst he sorts out the playing staff. Many fans and most media seem to think he'll be sacked. All he needs to do now is come out and say "buttarli fuori il loro cazzo di pesce persico" and he'll be there (Check on Google, and then babelfish for a laugh).

I think the whole point was that he was a young manager with good experience in the premier league, where most cups and honours fall to the same four teams... I'd imagine it might be slightly more difficult for Mancini to have won the FA cup twice with the likes of blackburn...

That said, the point is mancini is young and it was a definite quality I wanted in our manager - young, ambtitious with attractive football. That way we'll probably have him for years, which is what I want - long term dominance.

I hope to God we've just turned a corner because I do like the man himself and I want this to work so badly.

Can't wait for the next game. Fuck internationals.

If you accept that Roma, Milan, Inter and Juve are Italy's big 4, then I think his situation at Fiorentina and Lazio, who were both in huge financial messes is not too dissimilar to les

Although both bigger clubs than Blackburn in terms of fan base, both were in a big decline, had sold/were selling their best players and were considered relegation/mid table at best when he won those cups. It certainly was enough to get him a job at Inter and he didnt let them down.

I'm almost in a positive mood after writing that, this guy might actually know what he is doing, and he definately has that track record of achievement that we levelled as an issue against Hughes, so maybe we have no right to complain about his tactics.

It's not completely true though, not now at least. I mean, Juve, Inter and Milan surely form a big 3 in Italy, but it's not always definite who the fourth force is, I'd say Roma and Fiorentina aren't too far apart and then there's Napoli trying to push in.

But, at the moment when Mancini was at Fiorentina and Lazio, I guess you could say there was a big 4 made by the teams you mentioned, and for sure Fiorentina and Lazio weren't at the big four's level back then, although it was only a very bad season that brought Fiorentina close to relegation, not the actual ability of the team, and Lazio never really risked to go down.

This said, I agree with the rest of your post.

Well we'll always have a right to complain about tactics if we feel they are detrimental to our progress, but it is hard not to be positive after a result like that. I really wish we were playing this weekend because its now we need momentum.

Its going to be a very exciting run in if we play like we did in that second half. We'll wipe the floor with our rivals and I'll be singing Mancini's name from the rooftops!!
