If we got what we paid for him I wouldn’t mind. He hasn’t done enough for me
It's probably a bullshit story. Why even would a player want to leave after only six months? If things aren't going well what about some professional pride, knuckle down and make things work? Not settling in Manchester? Give it some more time and see what happens. Worried about game time? Speak to the manager and see what you need to do to improve your chances. It really doesn't look good on your CV if you decide you can't hack it at MCFC after 5 months.
And not doing enough? Perhaps not but then there's an old thread called "What does Yaya actually do?" and I don't remember Merlin having the best first 5 months either.
That being said, it'll get twisted so it's all Pep's fault but if he really wants to leave after only 5 months he should go find himself a nice easy job where he doesn't have to try very hard.
Khusanov cost how much again ? And he’s been sent to Siberia .
I suppose that’s all his fault.
You honestly think these players didn’t want to “knuckle down”? Pep’s track record shows if you don’t hit the ground sprinting, you’re fucked off to the bench or worse . So no — it’s not just “Pep blame” or “he’s soft.” It’s a repeating pattern where Pep signs someone, barely plays them, then we cut losses quietly.
If Nico does leave, it’s not about “not trying hard enough” — it’s that he sees the writing on the wall. Just like plenty of other players have.
which players are part of this 'repeating pattern'? The only one I can think of of Pep bombing out is Phillips and he was shite - Who else has he instantly bombed out?
I’ll jog your memory then :
Douglas Luiz. Didn’t kick a ball for City — now bossing midfields, Brazil international, and getting scouted by Juve and Arsenal.
Pedro Porro? Never played a minute. Dumped. Now Spain’s starting right-back and a key man at Spurs.
Brahim Díaz? Couldn’t get 90 minutes under Pep. Now scoring Champions League goals for Real Madrid.
Eric García. Barely trusted, let go for nothing. Immediately starts for Barcelona and Spain.
Alvarez went as well as he got sick and tired of pep fucking him around - Atlético Madrid was happy to take that same player and make him one of their key men. At 24, Alvarez is now a pivotal figure in La Liga and Europe.
