9 pts - Surmountable or Title Gone?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Watching City at the moment is akin to watching Viv Richards batting like Geoffrey Boycott.

When this project started I would have settled for top 2 at this stage and we have to remember that we became champions ahead of schedule.

Except for the season Chelsea got more points.

The rest I agree with. We can still catch them. Chelsea might just be able to as well, I suppose, but they have also got to catch us.

I am enjoying seeing a City team as good as this one is even if no other fucker round here seems to want to bother having any fun.

i have fun everytime i watch City...a complaint about how we've chucked the league away doesn't mean we're all completely miserable and have lost any semblance of how to enjoy the game or our club, does it?

Also, John -- don't get distracted from your tussle with Mancio.

Despite my love of the Blues I can assure you Jon, being dropped after QPR AT 0300 HOURS on Georges Road by the Reddish branch lift gretly appreciated, was no fucking fun, the performance was utter shite, boring sideways passing and a failure for the penny to drop that QPR are shite, The manager changed fuck all and we draw two ponts tossed off,Players get it as well piss poor, dipper yes they were at it and a point was earnded but only by a brilliant /fluke. If we want to win anything you have to take it, this c.a BOLLOCKS CAN BE DUMPED NOW, It does not suit anyone but the opps, Southampton will allow us to play, we will get space and a great pitch to do it on, no poncing about having a look, WIN tahts it. Draws are off the menu.

I tend to keep out of these threads as I find them fuckin tiresome.
However, the Rags have to:

Go to Arse who they squeezed past 2-1 at home and who have something to prove
Entertain Everton and Norwich BOTH of who have beaten them this season
Entertain Villa and Reading who scored 5 against them and will be "fighting for their lives"
Take trips to Stoke (horrible), Magic Harry's desperate QPR, BFS's Bubble parlour (only 1-0 at the swamp) and Sunderland
Take on Chelski at the swamp, and Swansea who they couldn't beat away
Visit the impressive Steve Clarke's West Brom
oh and roll out the blue carpet for us

They're dropping at least 14 points

so let's not keep throwing in the towel eh

Caught a glimpse of sky sports news yesterday and they gave a varied list of teams that had closed the gap to win the title , .... Ie manure / Newcastle 12 points , various Chelsea and arsenal etc.. Some of these gaps as small as 3 points , yet they failed to acknowledge the obvious and most recent in that we came from 8 points behind to win last season !

Let's not exaggerate. Spurs, United and Everton away are tough, tough games- all of them. And any side would do fantastically well to win all 3. We trounced Spurs and Rags last season but by no means does that mean they'll be easy.

'Very, very winnable' is overstating it. We can win all 3 but even if we do, we have to hope they lose 9 more points than us. They've already played, Us, Chelsea Spurs and Liverpool away.

12th February
1 Manchester City P25 GD+45 Pts60
2 Manchester United P25 GD+36 Pts58

8th April
1 Manchester United P 32 GD+51 Pts79
2 Manchester City P32 GD+49 Pts71

10 point swing in 7 games. Followed by 8 point swing back in 6 games. Who knows what the next 3 months have in store.

He is the type of person who has a different opinion to everyone in the room just to stand out and be noticed. Say something upbeat and pro City, here he comes to say why you shouldn't get ahead of yourself. Say something anti-scum, he pops up to point out how you're underestimating them. Boring and predictable

why are you having a go at him for making very fair and correct points ?
I'll be fucking amazed if we get 9 points from those games, but you lads seem to think its a forgone conclusion? Why?

Don't think it's a forgone conclusion, just think it is highly probable. I believe in City and will continue to do so even if/when they let me down. Having hope makes watching the games more fun. And I know that for the players, having hope is what makes winning possible.

Also, its the beginning of February. The season ends mid May. So much to play for still that it's disingenuous to even call it hope.

I hope some of their players think the way some characters on here do. "Their run-in is harder. We've already played this & that team, only QPR ahead, eh." Bollocks. This is the Premier League. Every game is winnable, losable & drawable. That's no exaggeration, but a fact. Of course the probability is in their favour, but I think everybody with a brain cell or two realizes that already. No point banging on about it repeatedly & starting the same topic after every game.
We won at the Emirates, but drew with QPR. They lost to Wigan & couldn't beat Everton at home last season. Hardly anybody predicted that in one of those fancy fixture prediction threads. Anything is possible, that's the beauty of it all. Stop calculating & enjoy the ride.

We had to listen all season to "let's not get ahead of ourselves" and "don't underestimate united".

Fuck that. Let's get ahead of ourselves and underestimate united. How the fuck will that lead to us losing anymore than spending the whole time cautious will help us achieve anything?

It is the obvious bollox to come out with when you are trailing in a title race. It is in the rag tops and on sky every fucking day.

Why anyone feels the need to warn the rest of us not have hope and belief... on a fucking man city forum... is beyond me. Actually, it was beyond me last season even before we proved all the naysayers wrong...

It should be beyond him at this stage ffs.

We know the odds. And we knew they were worse last April.

I'll let the league go as long as we don't gift them the title 5 or 6 weeks beforehand. I'd actually be happy if they win in the second last gameweek with one last game to spare ... as long as they are our opponents in the FA Cup Final that very next weekend and we thrash them 6-1 or something at Wembley so not only humiliate them but take all that shine off their title that very week. Other than that I won't be happy if we lost the title this year ...

4 major differences this year;

Van Pussy
We beat them both times last year.
Goal Difference is worse this year.
Our squad is weaker than last year.

I hope for a change of fortunes but hand on heart Im not seeing it this year. If Van gets injured it would help but if we keep failing to gain ground like we have so far we will have to listen to the bleating Im afraid.
