Last night I started watching the England-Denmark game but after about 38 minutes of pedantic, mundane and boringly mediocre football from Woy's boys, I switched off.

In doing so I missed the 'excitement'of the second half when, surprise, surprise, England scored.

In switching off early, did I miss any second half improvement or was it more of the same ?? Moreover, did Joe continue to throw the ball out rather than hoof it upfield, or did he revert to type ??

I was left thinking that the petition to get Cleverley banned from playing for England ought to be extended to Shrek, or did he reveal his "World Class" skill and attributes in the second period ??

All in all, am I being too harsh on a bunch of clueless cretins masquerading in England shirts ??

If Michael Ricketts had been on debut for England & produced the identical game Rooney did, he would be universally marked about 4 out of 10 & written off as not being good enough.

It wasn't just the fact that he'd decide to randomly hoof the ball into the stand for no apparent reason, or run head first into a group of oppo players & lose the ball, it was the fact that he was actually hindering the game Sturridge, Sterling etc were trying to play, by making stupid fucking runs & standing in the way, slowing the game down with his back to goal etc, etc.

Danny Wellbeck, when he came on, was actually more in tune with the football being played than Rooney was & Lalana was much more suited to it.

Rooney is one of the best opponents City have faced imo, but at England level, he frequently lets the team down with below par, self centred performances (just like most of the other so called 'stars') & imo, they should try actually making a TEAM which plays together & his participation should only be allowed, if he actually adds to it, as opposed to everyone playing in a way which suits him & then him playing like a cunt.

I'm so frustrated with Rooney at international level. On his day there's no doubting he can be as good as anyone but he never performs for England.
His best performances came in Euro 2004 where he was absolutely brilliant as a 17 year old. Since then he's regularly let the national side down.
The thing is however, if he can replicate his club form, him and Sturrdige could potentially make an excellent front two.

I was however very impressed with Sturridge. Always looking to make things happen, always looked a threat. Sterling looked good but sometimes he just lacks that end product.
Lallana has something though very few English players have :silk. He's skillful and can beat a man and has that little bit of creativity. A bit like Joe Cole when he was good.

I like the idea of Shaw at left back but with Walker, Johnson and an unfit Micah, we're hardly spoilt for choice at right back. Bet Hodgson's half tempted to give Neville (gary) a pair of boots.

£600k, ending up at roughly £1.5M due to international appearances.

I did know that he came from Shrewsbury, but I always thought that he spent at least a year or two working through the upper end of the Academy, or the Reserves at the very least. I know he wasn't a True Academy product.

Nah, he had a couple of loan spells early on. Then he was second/third choice in Pearce's last season before taking claim to the shirt the next year.

Johnson is shit.

Sterling seems to be a typical England 'wonderkid' wide player, quick, reasonably skillful, not especially intelligent.

If he follows the usual pattern, he will peak now & people will be sick of the sight of him by the time he's 22.

Sturridge seems to be the opposite. Has been embarking on a long process of actually learning how to play football rather than just having talent & being stupid. Definitely becoming a more intelligent player, but still not as good as he sometimes appears & could still fizzle out.

Based on that game though, he, & Lalana played the highest quality football & were a level above the others.

Analysis of Bale and Huws's performances last night for Wales.
Huws has got rave reviews and also high praise for his Birmingham performances. Maybe a loan to a lower Premier League side next season could be on the cards for him.

Bale aswell is getting better and better. Scoring some lovely goals recently. For both club and country. Watching him play for Wales is amusing though, he's just so much better than everyone else. It's like when you played Sunday league football and the other team has a semi-professional/ former player on their side.
Certainly overpriced, but what a player.

Saw some of that game on recording & from what I saw, whilst Huws did ok in parts, he also missed some easy tackles & got caught on the ball several times. He looks slow at that level.

Nothing he did there suggests he will be good enough to play for City. I'm not saying he won't be, but he wouldn't have got in our team with that performance, not even above Rodwell. It is being blown up out of reality.

Whether Gerrard's performance for England would be considered good or average, he was on another planet compared to Huws & actually looked sharper.

Bale is so much better than the others, but is a greedy cunt playing for Wales. Does my head in.

you may not get to see Flanagan, Oneill is after him to play for the republic, silly I know with a name like John Patrick Flanagan!!
He has England youth honours, but I reckon he will declare himself Irish for the euro qualifiers.

If I was him I wouldn't. Who have England got at right back? I'm tired of Johnson and Walker and Micah's never fit. May as well give it to a youngster. Clyne of Southampton also looks a decent prospect.
The team above has a good mixture of youth and experience and hopefully players who see playing for England as an honor rather than a chore.

In reality we'll do very well to make it out the group stages. Our only hope is to play very disciplined and hope to get Sturridge through on goal a couple of times and be strong on set pieces.
If Shrek turns up and plays like we all know he is capable of we might have a chance but if he plays like he normally does for England I'd rather have Welbeck.

I'd rather have neither of them:- play Sturridge up front by himself and play another midfielder instead.

The dilema with Rooney is that he consistently underperforms for England but he's the one player really who has the ability to do something a bit special out of the blue. If he turns up and shows the same passion and desire he does for the Rags he can have a big influence and him and Sturridge could be very dangerous upfront.

As much as he might not deserve it, we all know every single manager for England will start with Shrek and just hope that somehow he can recreate his Euro 2004 form.
I won't hold my breath though.

Like i've said if England make it out the group stages it will be a good tournament.

The difference with Lallana, was that he passed ... And then moved....
Rooney was running round a lot but when he got on the ball he slowed it down or too frequently tried crazy shots.
Sturbridge can also be prone to slowing the game down ... When he's with Suarez that doesn't matter as much as he is such a quick mover and thinker.
Unless Rooney and Sturridge up the pace of their game it'll never work.

Whilst Shrek remains the focal point for England we will win nothing. He isn't good enough for me. End of story.

For too long succesive England managers have picked the same players and tried to mould them into the system, rather than deciding on a system and picking the best players to suit.

Sturridge on the right wing 1st half is a prime example. Did fuck all then had a better game when he moved to a more central position. If we want to play a wide man then pick a wide man. Not a centre forward in good form, to play out of position.I'm not having this bollocks about just being happy to be on pitch and I'll do whatever manager asks.

For 10 years we've had Lampard and Gerrard playing in same team when it patently doesn't work. Yes both their club form merits a place but its to the detriment of the balance of the side and the end result is neither player plays the same role for England as they do for
their club, which is surely why they get picked in the first place.

We seem to have an obsession with Rooney that he must play. Look at Spain. Torres even when banging them in Liverpool was behind Villa because Spain have a system and pick players accordingly. As do the Germans. Same for Holland. France and Italy. A pattern is emerging here and we will be also rans unless we change. Sadly, Hodgson is not the man to make it. Even after we come home early it will be largely the same suspects for the Euro qualifiers.

I haven't even touched on the likes of Young, Welbeck, Johnson and Cleverly to name just a few

Here we go.

1. England have little chance of progressing beyond the first games. However, if they do a Chelsea or a Milan after progressing, against the Spanish there is a good chance to bore the hell out of the spectators and the Spaniards and sneak a win on Penalties . Anti football. (NQDP, Might like it!).

2. The World Cup is going to be a disaster. They still haven't got the stadia completed.

So, jumpers for goalposts might just work in our (Englands favour).

3. It's going to be a disaster, so Spain win the lottery !
