In switching off early, did I miss any second half improvement or was it more of the same ?? Moreover, did Joe continue to throw the ball out rather than hoof it upfield, or did he revert to type ??
I was left thinking that the petition to get Cleverley banned from playing for England ought to be extended to Shrek, or did he reveal his "World Class" skill and attributes in the second period ??
All in all, am I being too harsh on a bunch of clueless cretins masquerading in England shirts ??

If Michael Ricketts had been on debut for England & produced the identical game Rooney did, he would be universally marked about 4 out of 10 & written off as not being good enough.
It wasn't just the fact that he'd decide to randomly hoof the ball into the stand for no apparent reason, or run head first into a group of oppo players & lose the ball, it was the fact that he was actually hindering the game Sturridge, Sterling etc were trying to play, by making stupid fucking runs & standing in the way, slowing the game down with his back to goal etc, etc.
Danny Wellbeck, when he came on, was actually more in tune with the football being played than Rooney was & Lalana was much more suited to it.
Rooney is one of the best opponents City have faced imo, but at England level, he frequently lets the team down with below par, self centred performances (just like most of the other so called 'stars') & imo, they should try actually making a TEAM which plays together & his participation should only be allowed, if he actually adds to it, as opposed to everyone playing in a way which suits him & then him playing like a cunt.

He did we paid £100,000 for him.
£600k, ending up at roughly £1.5M due to international appearances.
I did know that he came from Shrewsbury, but I always thought that he spent at least a year or two working through the upper end of the Academy, or the Reserves at the very least. I know he wasn't a True Academy product.

I'm so frustrated with Rooney at international level. On his day there's no doubting he can be as good as anyone but he never performs for England.
His best performances came in Euro 2004 where he was absolutely brilliant as a 17 year old. Since then he's regularly let the national side down.
The thing is however, if he can replicate his club form, him and Sturrdige could potentially make an excellent front two.
I was however very impressed with Sturridge. Always looking to make things happen, always looked a threat. Sterling looked good but sometimes he just lacks that end product.
Lallana has something though very few English players have :silk. He's skillful and can beat a man and has that little bit of creativity. A bit like Joe Cole when he was good.
I like the idea of Shaw at left back but with Walker, Johnson and an unfit Micah, we're hardly spoilt for choice at right back. Bet Hodgson's half tempted to give Neville (gary) a pair of boots.

Analysis of Bale and Huws's performances last night for Wales.
Huws has got rave reviews and also high praise for his Birmingham performances. Maybe a loan to a lower Premier League side next season could be on the cards for him.
Bale aswell is getting better and better. Scoring some lovely goals recently. For both club and country. Watching him play for Wales is amusing though, he's just so much better than everyone else. It's like when you played Sunday league football and the other team has a semi-professional/ former player on their side.
Certainly overpriced, but what a player.

you may not get to see Flanagan, Oneill is after him to play for the republic, silly I know with a name like John Patrick Flanagan!!
He has England youth honours, but I reckon he will declare himself Irish for the euro qualifiers.

If I was him I wouldn't. Who have England got at right back? I'm tired of Johnson and Walker and Micah's never fit. May as well give it to a youngster. Clyne of Southampton also looks a decent prospect.
The team above has a good mixture of youth and experience and hopefully players who see playing for England as an honor rather than a chore.
In reality we'll do very well to make it out the group stages. Our only hope is to play very disciplined and hope to get Sturridge through on goal a couple of times and be strong on set pieces.
If Shrek turns up and plays like we all know he is capable of we might have a chance but if he plays like he normally does for England I'd rather have Welbeck.

I'd rather have neither of them:- play Sturridge up front by himself and play another midfielder instead.

For too long succesive England managers have picked the same players and tried to mould them into the system, rather than deciding on a system and picking the best players to suit.
Sturridge on the right wing 1st half is a prime example. Did fuck all then had a better game when he moved to a more central position. If we want to play a wide man then pick a wide man. Not a centre forward in good form, to play out of position.I'm not having this bollocks about just being happy to be on pitch and I'll do whatever manager asks.
For 10 years we've had Lampard and Gerrard playing in same team when it patently doesn't work. Yes both their club form merits a place but its to the detriment of the balance of the side and the end result is neither player plays the same role for England as they do for
their club, which is surely why they get picked in the first place.
We seem to have an obsession with Rooney that he must play. Look at Spain. Torres even when banging them in Liverpool was behind Villa because Spain have a system and pick players accordingly. As do the Germans. Same for Holland. France and Italy. A pattern is emerging here and we will be also rans unless we change. Sadly, Hodgson is not the man to make it. Even after we come home early it will be largely the same suspects for the Euro qualifiers.
I haven't even touched on the likes of Young, Welbeck, Johnson and Cleverly to name just a few
