Was MP right to use Aleks for the extra defensive cover.Who knows what might have happened if Nasri or Jovetic had started but till the goal is was all quite even and a nil nil would have been ok.Yes they had a few more chances and scored what should have been a good 2nd but we had some too even with 10 men. That 2nd was brutal and you could blame Clichy for not getting the last ditch tackle in or at least staying on his feet but it was a very quick break. I can't blame Joe too much either.
Gutted for Vinnie who was magnificent (1st goal apart) and Fernandinho who showed fantastic quality for his first game back.Silva quality too when given half a chance.
We are not out of it totally especially if we have a full team out to give it a go.
Navas lost it ? He was fouled.

1.) It was in 2007
2.) They played the away leg first and won, then lost the home leg.
Barcelona was the European Champions at that time, after the final in Paris. Now they are just a bent team from a corrupt football championship.
The point I was making, is Liverpool didn't go to the Nou Camp having to overturn a 2 goal defecit. They came to Anfield having to preserve a 2-1 lead.
It's a far harder challenge.

Gotta love the optimism.
Huge ask now. If it happens it will be one of the greatest result in CL history.
Sadly can't see it though.
Unlucky for the lads tonight, at this level though you simply have to take your chances when they come and we did have chances.
i think with Aguero we could absolutely smash that team 3-1 if the Count plays his goddam game instead of pussy fucking around like he did.
"We will always play our way"...then he fucking sits back and begs them to come at him. Master Class in retard if you ask me. He went a bit "Mancini" in this match for me...wrong tactics. Shouldn't have started Navas, and played faves instead of the best player available for a job.
Stupid shit.
And for those acting like Barca were some invincible force...i thought that team was there to be beaten if we'd played our match.

We'll have a go at the Camp Nou and either make history or ease our fixture congestion. This has been 4th priority for a while now, and while knocking out Barca would be tremendous for club prestige, I guarantee our title rivals would rather we stayed in it and faced the gauntlet of Bayern, Real, PSG, etc. for as long as possible. Crashing out with another performance like that would be no disgrace, and the domestic campaign still might be an historic one.

Who was he referring to? I don't know either.

I agree. There's an argument to be made that we tried to play to the opposition too much rather than play our own game. We were worrying so much about stopping them that it took away from our attacking game. On the occasions we got forward their defending wasn't great and we should have set up to exploit it more.
All irrelevant now.
We go to Nou Camp with no pressure. Don't worry about the result or specific tactics too much, go there and attack them. It doesn't matter if we lose 5-0, gotta give it a go.

Beefymcfc wrote:Crap result but the lads played well. Demi fucked up, which I was expecting one way or another, but what can you do when it looks like a foul on Navas which isn't given, then you're holding the line and then Vinnie plays him onside. He then tries to stick a foot and even though a red, it was outside the box and should've been a freekick. Personally I though Demi played pretty shit but for the penalty there was a number of factors that compounded the problem in that instance.
I fucking hate Barca though, they fuck me right off. They fall to the floor like gimps going down on a swollen cock. Then, they expect every single call in their favour and as per UEFA rules, they get it. We stopped everything they through at us and we left them impotent, even after the sending off. It was only in the last few minutes, when the lads looked out on their feet, that they used the advantage.
Well played by the majority of our players and the can hold their heads high. I suppose some will say that Demi shouldn't have played but that's the way it is, the manager picks his players and you've got to expect them to play to their best. It didn't happen in some instances and it cost us the game and maybe if we'd continued our normal attacking game we could have gone on to score 6, but then again we could've conceded the game.
