Another 90 mins of watching navas get into great positions only to hit the ball inton the defenders ankles. Brilliant.

Swear he must be pellegrinis secret lover of something.

Nevertheless its a good to see a strong side. Bout time this expensive squad started to win more trophies.

Not a surprise but a big disappointment for me. Neither Bony or Kelechi on the bench either so there must be something wrong with them. Just seems strange that with a good number of injuries already Pellegrini has effectively put out the strongest side he can bar Joe.

If he plays kids it's taking a risk we don't win and if he plays a strong side he rakes a risk on getting injuries and also we don't win. I wonder what circumstances will get the kids on the pitch for a meaningful run out? Is there anyone prepared to bet that Dinho is the first sub used?

Think roberts(he should be starting really) and barker have a case but would you really say Garcia deserves a start after his performances this season?

Can't understand Roberts not getting a run ahead of Navas to be honest. Kelechi not fit so fair enough. I'd have given Maffeo a run to avoid a risk of a Sagna injury. Here's hoping a couple come on after an hour. Love to see Barker and Roberts running at the Sunderland defence on both flanks..

I don't think Manu Garcia has done enough to make the bench so far this season.

I have a strange feeling we will meet the shite in this competition this year.
Most of the good sides are still in so I expect a tough draw soon.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

Outstanding might be going a bit far but he did look comfortable. But he hasn't kicked on yet this season playing for the EDS. It will come I expect as he is a very talented footballer and getting onto the pitch at Sunderland might just be the boost he needs.

According to a tweet from Adarabioyo it's Garcia's Birthday today. Am I correct in thinking he is only 18 yrs old now.
I think he's obviously regarded as one of the best prospects to be making the bench and getting an appearance for the first team the other night.
He's still very young even for the EDS Doug. It has to be encouraging that a few like him are starting to figure more prominently in City's plans for the future.

While I'm on it. What are your thoughts on Evans aside form the fact he has played at all age levels. Will he make it at City?

Blue Moon podcast going off today on a bunch of our fans on Twitter complaining that we din't start 11 EDS lads, or something to that effect. Instead they said Pellegrini made the right choice, because if we played a team like that and lost Roberts, et all would have less chances to play.

Their argument ended by saying "We aren't big enough to take this competition lightly" and that the way the league cup is set up now, ending in late February and now with no replays, that Pellegrini is thinking it's a way we can win a trophy, and look at the boost it gave us in 2014 and Chelsea in 2015.

I couldn't agree more.
