I must say im disapointed with how this thread has worked out. Many have got southern accents or non-manc accents on here or in the stands every week that are proud to wear the blue of manchester. My mother is a manc and she did me the best turn in the world teaching me right from wronge ( red or blue). I dont get this hatred towards fellow blues because of there accents who cares its all about the football and the comradery isnt it???

I am also very surprised by this thread . I and none of my family are even close to manchester but I have supported city since 1969 . I was an original glory hunter at the age of 6 . My dad even made the effort to take me to see bell,lee and Summerbee . When I look back now that couldn't have been easy with the cost of things even then.
I have been to Maine road and the etihad and have always been made very welcome in the pubs and at the ground by all city fans .

I even managed to take my wife to the F A cup final last year ,her first city game. Although we lost she thought the day was fantastic ! It was all down to the city fans . Her words not mine . She thought the green man pub was brilliant .everyone very friendly and chatty , same in the stadium .

Perhaps we get away with it cos we have a really heavy Suffolk accent which in no way can be classed as London or down south.

I'm going to have a real stab in the dark here at what the issue is, and whilst its a stab in the dark, it's based on years of watching city and seeing incidents like these flare up from time to time.

OP shouts his mouth off criticising player 'dozy idiot' etc, doesn't even have to be offensive. It happens a few times through the game until a regular, tired of hearing a non-regular do nothing but criticise the team/player/manager has enough and tells him to shut the fuck up.

It generally has nothing at all to do with accent, but the behaviour of the person. Particularly if the person is vocal with opinions that are not normally heard in that section, regulars will hone in on it immediately. Not saying its right to have a go at another blue, and I cringe when I see it, as its generally an over-reaction from the guy who kicks off, but by the same token, it's fucking annoying when some cunt parachutes in, and is just constantly critical or spouting utter bollocks throughout a game.

Like I say, this is only a generic 'stab in the dark' - but given the reaction I'd almost wager money on this having happened - otherwise the guy is a fucking psychopath......and would have been locked up a long time ago for attacking strangers at random with no provocation.

Years ago when watching the blues. When i was old enough to go with my mates. Being regular Kippax street fellas, once the north stand was built we would take up our position in what eventually became one of the Gene Kelly ends, between the kip and North stands.
There was always a stupid lout , about thirtyish, i would say , coming in and insisting on the same spot , probably drunk as a skunk too . Always referred to Tony Book as Hugh ( "Hey Hugh Book , you're effin rubbish " and so on , and so on).

Being teenagers, we did the obvious at that time ( No, not beat him up and rob him!).... we simpy moved to another part of the stand.

It's difficult to do that though now when you are seated.
