I got what j@sta was saying; there's no way that he'll be getting anything close to 80k at his current club, so to leap to 150k in his first contract at his next club would be ludicrous- especially in the FFP era.

From the way I've seen the story evolve (I think before we were officially interested), he's angling for a massive pay rise, or a move to a club that'll match his wage demands. My guess is that the wage hike has been reported at some point in the press to be in the region of €150K (probably untrue). That's been translated by some to £120K, whereas others just swapped the Euro to a Pound sign (that's happened with a fair few other transfers in recent years, and not just with us).

Most of us have been round long enough to appreciate John and enjoy him sharing his knowledge of the good old days and being an all round nice guy. That said watching him post the other month was painful and I do see where the opinions being shared came from, we just know he's not like that 95% of the time.

Besides anyone that met a certain foreign poster gets a 3 month mental pass afterwards ;)
