The simple fact is our old squad lost 8-1 at a poor side and laughed about it (just as an example of their ineptitude), with only Ireland it seems taking it seriously. Without revisiting those endless debates a brief summary of these so-called out-of-favour-because-Hughes-didn't-sign-them players you mention is:
Petrov - largely injured last year. When he did come back he wasn't really fit and also kept giving the ball away. Now fit, bucking up a bit and looks pretty good. Les refused to let him go to Spuds on the last day of the window. All seems sensible to me, not 'bias'.
Richards - widely held by 99.9% of people on here to playing like a complete twat, culminating in a dire performance at OT. Came in at CB at Wigan and did a half-decent job, making the right noises in the press and hopefully getting it together. Dropped for 'bias' or playing badly? Sensible again.
Elano - flashes of brilliance followed by periods of intense mediocrity characterised mainly by giving the ball away, being unable to hold it in any challenge, dire attempts at goal or crosses and no ability to tackle whatsoever. Culminated in, once again, a performance at OT which was one of the worst in a City shirt for many years. Even his supporters threw in the towell and, with his disruptive attitude carried here from Shaktar, hardly a whimper was heard when he was eventually shipped out. To Turkey of course, not Milan!!
All these decisions seem aimed at gearing us up for a top spot to me not bias. I'm sure Les would've been delighted if he'd inherited a load of top players. Not the case, however nostaglic some are. Boj isn't good enough either.
Couldnt agree more with the way you have summed them up, absolutely spot on, but Elano and Petrov have both been denied gametime when showing great form on more than one or two occasions for less than average replacements.
Do you remember him Subbing Elano off time after time at the end of last season when he was on fire (by his standards) Almost the entire south stand was singing and singing his name game after game, infuriated many blues.
The main players Hughes got slated for playing were Vassell, Caicedo, Fernandes & later Richards none of of whom he signed. His one failure signing, Ben Haim, was dropped & fucked off without ceremony. If you're going to slag the bloke off, at least have the decency to slag him for something that he's done rather than that which is bollocks of an astounding level. He's probably been the least guilty of favouritism out of any manager we've had in my lifetime. Is there something bad about a City squad that doesn't have issues so you have to create some kind of artificial situation that doesn't exist?
Anyhow , Bojinov had missed two whole years of football & his career was on the line so rather than stick him on the bench or in the reserves, Hughes has given him the chance of regular football elsewhere to get himself fit & rescue his career. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about repaying that or our support & is happy to swan around Italy. Bollocks to him.
He signed Jo.
You know all that crap you are thinking now believing they are valid points? Well Hughes said Jo was his decision and that he had the last say on all transfers. We praised him for shutting down the Ireland transfer which was the same thing in reverse, we shouldn't let him duck out on this one because we want to believe he has had one dud signing.
