The simple fact is our old squad lost 8-1 at a poor side and laughed about it (just as an example of their ineptitude), with only Ireland it seems taking it seriously. Without revisiting those endless debates a brief summary of these so-called out-of-favour-because-Hughes-didn't-sign-them players you mention is:

Petrov - largely injured last year. When he did come back he wasn't really fit and also kept giving the ball away. Now fit, bucking up a bit and looks pretty good. Les refused to let him go to Spuds on the last day of the window. All seems sensible to me, not 'bias'.

Richards - widely held by 99.9% of people on here to playing like a complete twat, culminating in a dire performance at OT. Came in at CB at Wigan and did a half-decent job, making the right noises in the press and hopefully getting it together. Dropped for 'bias' or playing badly? Sensible again.

Elano - flashes of brilliance followed by periods of intense mediocrity characterised mainly by giving the ball away, being unable to hold it in any challenge, dire attempts at goal or crosses and no ability to tackle whatsoever. Culminated in, once again, a performance at OT which was one of the worst in a City shirt for many years. Even his supporters threw in the towell and, with his disruptive attitude carried here from Shaktar, hardly a whimper was heard when he was eventually shipped out. To Turkey of course, not Milan!!

All these decisions seem aimed at gearing us up for a top spot to me not bias. I'm sure Les would've been delighted if he'd inherited a load of top players. Not the case, however nostaglic some are. Boj isn't good enough either.

Couldnt agree more with the way you have summed them up, absolutely spot on, but Elano and Petrov have both been denied gametime when showing great form on more than one or two occasions for less than average replacements.

Do you remember him Subbing Elano off time after time at the end of last season when he was on fire (by his standards) Almost the entire south stand was singing and singing his name game after game, infuriated many blues.

The main players Hughes got slated for playing were Vassell, Caicedo, Fernandes & later Richards none of of whom he signed. His one failure signing, Ben Haim, was dropped & fucked off without ceremony. If you're going to slag the bloke off, at least have the decency to slag him for something that he's done rather than that which is bollocks of an astounding level. He's probably been the least guilty of favouritism out of any manager we've had in my lifetime. Is there something bad about a City squad that doesn't have issues so you have to create some kind of artificial situation that doesn't exist?

Anyhow , Bojinov had missed two whole years of football & his career was on the line so rather than stick him on the bench or in the reserves, Hughes has given him the chance of regular football elsewhere to get himself fit & rescue his career. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about repaying that or our support & is happy to swan around Italy. Bollocks to him.

He signed Jo.

You know all that crap you are thinking now believing they are valid points? Well Hughes said Jo was his decision and that he had the last say on all transfers. We praised him for shutting down the Ireland transfer which was the same thing in reverse, we shouldn't let him duck out on this one because we want to believe he has had one dud signing.

Please, leave out the crap about his pace; you have no idea how fast he will/won't be after he has recovered form while playing consistently for a year.

Bottom line is that he won't come close to starting here, given the fact that we signed about 2000 strikers in the transfer window. No chance. Of course.. I would rather develop Boj by putting him in RSC's spot on the bench, rather than have RSC. I don't rate RSC as highly as most.

So with that said, why the hell wouldn't and shouldn't he want to stay at Parma? Exactly what kind of mentality do some of you have, to think that he OWES City in such a manner, that he should just get paid to rot on a bench? Are you mad?

About Robbie.. let me preface by stating that I am a big fan of his. I love the way he plays, and I like his personality off the field. With that said, SELL HIM in the January window if possible. Pick up YaYa and some cash. I won't pontificate, but to say that Petrov fits better on this team, right now.

The underlined seems full of contradictions.

Firstly, Santa hasn't been playing consistantly for a year, but you're judging him based on his last season. Then you say you'd rather have Boj? I take it that's based on his best full season in Italy? What about Santa's best season in the premier league (where it is most important), only the season before? Is that comparible to Boj's best season?

It just seems to me that you are giving out about people not giving Boj a chance and you'd rather have him in the squad than Santa Cruz, because Santa Cruz hasn't looked good yet?

Something wrong there mate!

Exactly how am I contradicting myself? If I made the decision, then I would put Boj ahead of RSC on the depth chart, because as I said, I don't rate RSC very highly. For me, he is little better than Viduka was for Newcastle as far as staying in form. (And I mean that with respect to both injury and physical fitness). Just my opinion.

Boj seems to have more upside, and I think that he would develop nicely over the next few years if he were given the playing time that Santa Cruz is going to get (whenever the heck he stays healthy).

I'm "giving out" (which I assume is synonymous with "lashing out") because some are already determining (in their own minds) how good he will be due to his injuries. I am saying that it will take around a year of consistent playing time to see what level of play he will achieve, and if that comes at Parma, all the better for him. If he were still here, I'm not sure he would see the light-of-day on the regular squad.

What's wrong, did you have to look it up? How about the word, "peevish"? You know that one? No? I didn't think so. Next, please look up the word "oaf", and find yourself described.

Won't pontificate, eh? Looks like you already have.

29 posts and you are throwing insults around. Lovely.

Anyway. We'll see at the end of the season what Bojinov's looking like. Maybe any decision will be made then, though really this is guesswork on my part.

I don't care who it actually is that plays for City (other than the obvious) as long as they are good enough to do what is needed.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Of course I should "chill the fuck out", right?

I mean, it's not as if I have any right to defend myself from snide comments, right?

If I catch crap un-necessarily, I am going to say something back. That's only fair, no?

Post count aside, I think I have every right to defend myself.

Otherwise, I agree with the rest of your post. Hopefully Boj can bring himself to the form many of us think he posessed, while continually getting injured here at City.

As this thread has taken a different direction from its title I'll join in the discussion about Hughes only picking the players he has bought.
I think the fact that he has been able to buy his own team in the space of a year confirms this.
And why wouldnt he play players he has paid 10's of millions of pounds for over players that we already had.
Whether what he has bought is better than what we had is a matter of opinion. But how would it look if the players we already had performed better than the ones Hughes bought.Players that were a lot cheaper.Thats a risk he couldn't afford to take and sold anybody who might make his judgement look flawed.
I think he has got rid of some good players so he can keep face and the only reason he is playing Petrov now is because he has to.
Bellamy started the season badly but Hughes perseverred with him whereas Petrov in every opputunity he has been given has performed well but has been dropped when Hughes gets the chance.
