De Jong

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I think it’s a bit harsh singling one or two players out.

At the end of the day we were playing the best team in England on their home patch, and all the goals were collective errors in my opinion.

I think Hughes has to shoulder most the blame for wrongly changing things in the second half we were over run in midfield and simply could not cope; when we reverted back they scored more or less straight away.

At the end of the day we are still gelling as a side, we have won 4 out of the last 5 games, we have had a cracking start to the season and can only learn and get better, and there wasn’t much between both sides today except a bent referee.

They are right now showing slow motion the build up to first goal in slow motion. The way De Jong simply avoids doing his job is just amazing.

To think we have never-say-die player like Zabaleta on the bench makes me cry.

You really are an idiot!

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The fact that you are calling De Jong "one of our better players" goes to show where you stand.

One of our best players in the first half, disappeared along with our midfield in the second.

If we're going to point fingers at a midfielder, it should be all of them for the second half.

I thought it was more SWP was at fault for their first goal; but it seemed it took our entire team to take about 10 minutes to settle

In the second half it was so congested in and around our area that clearing, or attempting to clear the ball, was a lottery.
not to mention that their '12th man' seemed to penalise us for any and every physical contact against one of their players.

Given such a scenario, I'll reserve my judgment on De Jong: right now it seems he, Barry, and Ireland seem to be competing for the same position.

Thought he had a good game overall and certainly had a better game than Ireland.

de Jong was in my opinion very good in the first half.Chasing and tackling and winning the ball.
He faded in the second half mainly because the filth started to use their flanks and played over our midfield.
The molesters had a period (wouldn't be surprised if their entire team have:) of 20-25 mins when they were playing cross after cross.
Richards couldn't handle the wide play and ended up in front of our goal instead of pushing Giggs out to the sideline.
We'll be back.

Thought de Jong was one of our best players in the 1st half personally. In the second he faded but he was far from the worst play in a City shirt out there today, he got in some great challenges and broke up play on a number of times today.

Well, as you all know I am De Jong's biggest fan. :)

I thought he was MoTM first half, completely flawless and all those things that I was critical of were completely absent. Second half he was okay but not as dominant, I don't know whether it was tiredness or Ireland being moved left(who I was wondering what he was doing on the pitch up until this point).

However, the easy two spots this game were. De Jong was covering the back four, whereas Bellamy was last week and the first three goals all came from Richards/SWP's side. The fourth goal I could have been cut out but I think all eleven players had switched off by that point.

Today we got a masterclass from Giggs and got beaten by the trafford's 1st rule of relative time. Losing 4-3 at the swamp is not the worst thing in the world when you consider those two factors.

Jesus there's some serious anger in there. And completely misdirected.

You obviously didn't watch the same game. Its evident he was fantastic in the first half and faded second, when the midfield couldn't get the ball.

You should actually watch the whole thing again mate, instead of trying to get folk to watch the first goal again...

When i saw the title of this thread I just presumed it was a thread singing the praises of a much critised player.

Utterly stunned by first post.

De Jong was by far and away the best player on the park in the first half. A flawless performence.

In the second half. Like the rest of the city team he was on the back foot. Unable to stem the constent united attacks. He was no better or worse than any City player on the pitch.

To single out De Jong is typical there has to be someone to blame behaviour. In this case it is completly out of order to point the blame at NDJ.

I think you'll find last week it was me and the stats I was using last week to show proof on the subject have this week been used to defend him.

I am not one of his biggest fans, and yes he along with MR, SWP and Kolo did mess up for the first goal, but thereafter, at least he tackled and put himself about in the middle, which is more than can be said for the missing bald comic book/movie hero.

No way did we deserve to lose that game today, and all this bullshit about them "dominating" from the taggart arse kissing media is purley comical in itself, at HOME they had 8 shots on goal to our 6, they were at full strength and playing a side who were a "mid-table side and not a threat to the scum or the top 6" according to Berbadross in the morning media, and that side they played had only ONE fit striker out of FIVE available (Tevez was definately still suffering from the injury), and still gelling together, make no mistake that was not a dominant display by the scum, but an official helped one...unless dominance is determined by the side who make the most passes and get the most free-kicks/corners etc.

Bridge, Richards, Lescott and Ireland were poor today, but that twat in black should be made to pay for this with his job, since his decision could ultimately (if we lost out by a point on 6th) cost Hughes his at the end of the season, and I will state right now, that I am starting to come round to the idea of having Hughes as City manager, a man of class unlike his pathetic crony counterpart today.

The most nausiating thing other than that twat Atkinson and his miraculous missing watch, that was suddenly re-located when Owen scored, and Ferguson is Richard Keys and Andy Gray sticking their tongues that far up Taggarts arse, that when he brushes his teeth in the morning, he freshens their breath.
