We need to learn to manage games when we are in total control..... We are letting things slip time and time again.

Serious question. Don't you think Navas offers more than Sterling at the moment?

I think my mum would offer more than Sterling ATM. Really disappointing.
And of course, the real benefit of Sterling in the first few games was the space he gave Spanish Dave. Now he's out, Sterling doesn't seem to offer much at all.
Hopefully that will change.

Yes. But Navas is still absolute dog shit.

I do agree that Strrling and Merlin were looking like a potent duo but without big Dave I think Nasri should start instead of sterling

Ouch. I think you're being a bit harsh.

He does offer us something with his pace, and works his arse off defensively, but he is really a backup to De Bruyne now anyway.

Can he? One this season, and it looks like what all the bitter scousers were saying about his finishing ability wasn't far off the mark.

Spurs must have thought it was Christmas today.

No Kompany
No Silva
No Hart

Dodgy no pace back four and two new wingers settling in. As it proved despite the goal if you throw crosses into cant catch wont catch Willy you get goals.
Why did we sign this fucking fool?

Here's a tip for Mr Count

Never play the two Ferns. It takes away our creativity and doesn't make us stronger defensively. And yet we keep doing it. And people suggest it as a viable ploy. Even though it makes us look wank. Remarkable.

I agree. However, playing Yaya behing Aguero was also a shit decision. KDB in there would have been far more suited. Fernandinho as no10 would be better than Yaya i think. He is actually very creative with his passing and his pressing higher up the field would have helped more as Yaya doesnt do that

It looks like this may happen again on Wednesday with Yaya being out. We are woefully short of central midfield cover.

Yesterday was our 5th game in 14 days. I wonder if that played a part in us falling away in the 2nd half. With our injury list there has not been much rotation. Many of the Spuds players were not involved during the week. Maybe we should have done the same

It would make us stronger defensively if we had two centre halves as well. We expect the fullbacks to get forwards, so we need to provide cover for them, but it falls apart when the defence can't do the basics. That the front four were pretty poor isn't the fault of those behind them. There was plenty of chances up front, just no one to do anything with them.

There was nothing wrong with the formation in the first half, in fact it was pretty good for their first goal as well, catching their fullback offside perfectly. What happened the second half is anyone's guess.

Yes he is. That was not a one off. When I watched him play for Malaga he was fucking useless.

Just been having a check on Soccerbase and noticed the last time we lost by such a score was to the Rags, 4-2. We'd lost a couple of PL games on the trot, very similar to what we've seen in the last couple of weeks (2-1, 4-1), and then went onto finish the season with with just the 6 wins, continued into this season with another 5, to set a record. I wonder if we can now go on a similar run?

Interestingly the referee on that day away to the Rags was Clattenburg and I seem to remember there was a couple of dubious offside decisions in that game as well. I'm sure Mata was well offside and Fellaini was very much in question. And didn't Ashley Young try a couple of dives?

I wonder if he had the same lino's that day?

IMO Fernando was the better of the two on Saturday but the pairing worked well. If it is true he was unfit all last season and now he isn't then this duo could work well. They helped us dominate the first half on Saturday.

He was awful wasn't he. It's still beyond me why he's taking up a foreign player slot.
I've only just seen the Sunderland game (been on holiday), and the signs were there then.

This comment sums up the Clattenburg & other ref problems perfectly. The long trail of damning evidence is there for all of us, that these recurrent ref incidents are not a coincidence or just bad luck.

Anyone who claims that these bad ref calls get evened out, during the long season, is simply turning a blind eye to City getting blocked from winning more titles and further club profits.

Nearly every other sport uses instant replays, for accuracy & verification... Why is world football the last to demand more accuracy & honesty?... For the sake of continuing outmoded traditions, or protecting the power & excessive earnings of the PGMOL refs?!
