Keiren Westwood was released by Sunderland and had a great season for Wednesday. He could have done that job, while being homegrown (and even club trained in this case), free and on lower wages. As could the likes of Green, Carson, Lewis, Stockdale etc. I understand that some of them might not want to sit on the bench, but others would I'm sure.

Hart has improved remarkably since Caballero came to the club. Maybe it's not all black and white eh?

He really hasn't though. Still great on the line and in 1-on-1s, still horrendous at kicking a football.

I agree with you on this.

Westwood would of been ideal actually. International keeper too. Caballaero has been a waste of cash and a waste of a foreign spot despite my early enthusiasm for him.

Problem with walking away from Sterling deal is that we need a back up and we dont have one of them i dont think. So liverpool know this and can afford to wait and see if we up the bid again....which we will i have no doubt about it.

Throw a 20m bid in for Oxlade Chamberlain that might put the cat amongst the pigeons.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,

Problem is they really believe he is worth north of 50m, 40m is enough.

I reckon the Milner ease of passage was part of the Sterling transfer.

We just need to sit and wait until it looks like Liverpool have won the situation but lost Sterling. Amateurs.

Or we should just buy Firmino and leave them with an unhappy Sterling and no other clubs who need/want him.

Cut out QPRs share (something like 20%) and suddenly the £35m bid doesn't sound as obscene from Liverpool's perspective, so I can see how they would want to hold out for a bit more. Though it shouldn't be our issue. Offer them £40m straight, no add-ons, in installments, so that The Brodge can't spend it, and be done with it.

No we are insisting on having our hubcaps back, but they said it wasn't them.

It's just a matter of time on this and City know it. No one else is going to offer up 50m.

Sterling can buy out his remaining year for 1.7m and be free next summer. Liverpool will get a development fee of say 15m, hell even if it's 20m. If Liverpool keep him (and Sterling exercises the buyout clause) they are effectively using his services for 1 year for 20-25m. They wouldn't offer him 150,000 a week. Can't see them paying 20-25m.

Ahhh... the old "he can buy out his contract" line comes out again.

Who was the last top player to do this?

Let's just buy him. He's quite good, English and proper rapid. Imagine the joy he'd get being fed by Yaya and silva.

Wouldn't that be because the player signed a long term deal with the club OR because he was sold prior to being able to exercise this option?

eta: Or the player isn't good enough yet for his market worth to far outweigh any buyout. Sterling's agent is going to use all the leverage he can to get his client (thus himself) the best deal he can. Maybe that means working out a contract with Liverpool and maybe Liverpool don't feel forced to sell because they think they can still work out a deal. Latest reports contradict this, which means, if true, it's in Liverpool's best interest to sell.

Been out today so not read anything yet. Did I really read that we're offering 35 million for him!

In this case, I've every faith that he will do it if it comes down to it, and Liverpool know it.

Nobody before has done it because in cases where it's been threatened, the remainder of the contract was almost as big as the transfer fee they would have commanded anyway. And its principally not been done before, because most clubs are renewing the contracts every 2 years for this very reason - a key issue in why players salaries keep rising which is conveniently ignored when it's said we are ruining football

I think there's a good chance he would do it, as most of this shit was caused by Liverpool grassing him up for not instantly signing a new deal.

I was blaming him for being a bit of a cunt, but they let it be known that a 20 year old kid hadn't signed, a put all the old fucking istree riddled scouse loving zombies on his case. And he's had nothing but pressure ever since.

So if I was him, I'd have the cunts over.

But I think he'll be signed shortly anyhow.
