After watching Hughes' post match interview, its only a matter of time before its announced. He said the clubs we in discussions and that the situation had developed. He never usually comes out with stuff like that. I'd say the deal is being finalised and Lescott will be in for Palace

In my opinion not worth even half that fee. Looks dodgy defensively which as a centre half you really shouldn't be doing.

He's a top defender and a monster in the air. Even if it isnt just paper bollox 24m will do for me. Yeh its maybe 6 or 7 million more than he's worth but I think all in all we've done well this summer with the money we've spent so spending a little over at the end of the window is ok with me. 12m for Gaz Baz is the bargain for the century!

£16m would've been a reasonable price given the length of his contract, £24m probably makes him the second most expensive defender in the Prem!

I don't care about the price. Granted 24 million is alot for him but he is gonna improve us greatly. He's 6ft 2. Loads of experience. Hitting his prime. England international. Scores regularly from set pieces. Good in the tackle. A beast in the air. Most importantly he CONSISTANTLY puts in top performances. He should be the final piece to the man city puzzle. Infact he could be the difference between us winning a cup and not imo, which when you put it that way makes 24 million look like peanuts.

Me aswell, he is the perfect signing for us as he is exactly what we are missing, when one of those players is out there you MUST do all you can to get the player to your club and that is what City have done. In the long run nobody will remember the price, just how big Joleon Lescott was for Manchester City.

Well done City.

And Everton can fuck off trying to report us the bitter basterds.

yeah we've made 2 official bids that were made in writing to Everton - they were the ones who went public on this - this is Moyes and Rooney all over again.

Ive always viewed Everton as a club and their fans as fucking pricks but any redeeming qualities Gollum and the rest of his fucking club had with me has gone out of the window if they report us for tapping up.

They have done all the public talking when it come to this transfer. They have announced 2 rejected bids to make themselves look high and mighty at our expense. Kenwright and Moyes can get fucked.

Jo Cott is ours. Everton can fuck off.

Sensible post - this is not like comparing the price of spouts at Tesco and Sainsbury

We have an urgent need for a good - very good CB - so he is worth £20m+ to us in August 2009

Toure showed yesterday just what a difference quality makes - he was head and shoulders the best CB performance I have seen for ages in a CITY shirt - and he has composure with the ball, pace and is good in the air

Lescott will bring much the same to the left side - just imagine what our forward line could do if the the team was not continuously being distracted to relieve the unnecessary pressure our defence keeps inviting

But FFS - will Hughes not have the penny drop with richards?? - it was no surprise that the penny dropped with Wolves and much of their play started to come down that side - the weak link and we should either play Zab or buy someone in
