Some noise building this morning that Gollum it ready to let Lescott go.
Have to honest, I have mixed feeling about this one, particularly at the talked about £20M plus.
But hey how, we can afford it but just can't help thinking he is only going to play a bit part.
There has to be better out there!

It has been all about patience and the saga has run a fairly predictable course with Moyes desperately trying to hold on to a key player. I don't think though that there has ever been a doubt that Everton need the money and ulimtaely would have to agree once Lescott made his feelings known culminating in his transfer request.
Now we have the unimaginable situation that City would walk away leaving Everton with an unsettled player who is getting a lot of stick from the fans and maybe stick from some players as well. There is surely no way City can leave him in the lurch now so I would think it's just a matter of time now to agree the details.

Not sure there is mate, left-sided CB or LB, at the moment.

As regards the fee, it's always less then the media say, and just think what SCUM paid for Weeo years ago now.

City boss Hughes closes on £22m defender Lescott

Everton last night gave up the fight to keep England defender Joleon Lescott and agreed to sell him to Manchester City for £22million.

The Merseysiders had already turned down two offers for Lescott, with manager David Moyes making a defiant stand and refusing to be forced into selling one of his key players by City's money-no-object Arab owners.

But Lescott handed in an official transfer request and it became clear during the week that his head had been turned by the interest from Eastlands.

Moyes reluctantly accepted that he was only harming team morale by keeping the 27-yearold at Goodison Park against his wishes.

Having rejected previous bids of £15m and £18m, Everton now pocket a £22m fee and will also receive add-ons for a player who cost £5m from Wolves three years ago.

It is further evidence of City's financial might, with manager Mark Hughes taking his summer spending beyond the £100m mark.

Although Hughes missed out on Chelsea skipper John Terry, he will now be able to partner Lescott with Kolo Toure, a £16m capture from Arsenal. Moyes had been determined to stop City from taking his player but the writing appeared to be on the wall when he lost patience with Lescott on Wednesday.

The player's state of mind had been brought into question following Everton's disastrous Premier League opener last Saturday when they were thrashed 6-1 at home by Arsenal, and Lescott's sullen mood in training convinced Moyes that he was becoming a bad influence on the rest of the team.

He was made to train on his own and dropped from Thursday night's Europa League tie with Sigma Olomouc, which Everton won 4-0.

Addons will be sell on clause most prob.. As Moyes no doubt thinks we don't want him for a long time.

18 m , take it or leave it Gollum say I - not enamoured about bankrolling their transfer war chest - he could do us some damage with that sort of cash - I´ll have to trust Les on this one

Maybe were fishing with this transfer? We higher the bid till he ticks and accepts then we keep lowering till we get to a reasonable amount hoping the rod don't snap? :p OFC I don't think we really do transfers like this but we fucking should :).

Dunno and doubt they would make that kind of information public this late into the transfer.

It could make all the difference this season. There are a few teams this season that will find them selves in bloody big battle at the end, and with little cash flow they need to take what ever comes their way.

They were saying on radio 5 before the game that it was more or less done, just a matter of when it was going to be announced.
