We play Chelsea on 31st Jane, but the Transfer window is open until 11pm on Monday 2nd Feb. If we are to sell Dzeko, it would be after the Chelsea game IMO. If the Ivory Coast do well, they will be back two weeks after that, so its a calculated gamble if thats the case,

This is £30m on a striker that has no real right to be playing for the champions of England, I still can't get over the fee, it's huge. But, in context, we've essentially swapped Negredo for Bony, and we haven't had to wait until summer 2015 to get his replacement, albeit we've got to wait until March to see him play. And when you consider how bad Negredo has become, I think £5m to upgrade to Bony is fair enough.

What worries me the most about this signing is that it potentially blocks the signing of a genuinely top class striker this summer. If we are to sign a top striker in the summer it's going to have to be at the expense of Dzeko, maybe Jovetic too. We could have signed Cavani had we splashed out a little more, that's the frustrating part of this whole saga for me. Sign Cavani now and forget about signing someone in the summer. But now, we've spent £30m on a bench warmer and we'll still be after another striker in the summer.

Cavanni is unproven in the prem has a bit of an attitude and for me is overated - all for something close to £50M. Much happier with Bony who is proven in the prem for around £20M less.

I guess we've all got our positions on this transfer, but has it actually happened yet?

I take it wil is a similar kind of player except, he can actually use his size to throw of defenders and doesn't take 20 shots to score one goal?

Will think a lot more about Bonys potential impact when I see him holding up a City shirt on the OS.

Id be a lot more enthusiastic about it if he wasn't pissing off to the ACON for the next 5 weeks as well. We'll see if he signs - £25m - £30m isn't too heavy a price for a decent striker these days; whether he is top top class - which is the level of player we should be in for these days - is open for debate.

surely one of Dzeko or Jovetic is off in the summer…i hope its Jovetic as he's too much of a sick note.

Aguero, Bony, Dzeko, and Ihenacho. If Yaya is still around, God help us when the next ACON comes around.

http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/9635901/transfer-news-wilfried-bonys-agent-thinks-his-player-will-join-manchester-city

Wilfried Bony's agent has told Sky Sports News HQ he expects a deal to be done with Manchester City over the next few days.

Premier League title challengers Manchester City have been short of options up front of late and it emerged on Tuesday that they were in advanced talks with Bony, who has been a prolific goal scorer since arriving at Swansea.

The 26-year-old came to Wales from Vitesse Arnhem for £12m in July 2013 and has scored 34 goals in 70 appearances in all competitions since then.

He was given a contract extension seven weeks ago which runs until 2018 but the Ivory Coast international is now apparently on the verge of a move to to the reigning Premier League champions.

Bony is valued at around £30m and our reporter Gary Cotterill spoke to the Swansea forward and his representative at the airport before they left for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Asked directly if he thought the Manchester City deal would happen, Bony's agent Francis Kacou said: "Yes, it looks like it.

"Talks are going on but we hope, soon, things will happen."

"Every player wants to play Champions League, it is a wish of every player. So, if you get that opportunity ...?"

Wilfried Bony

Bony is heading off to join his Ivory Coast teammates for a training camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

“The discussions are still going on and now I am going to join my national team, so I will just focus on that," he said.

“There is no news yet but the negotiations are going on.

“We don’t know what will happen or what will be later, but now I’m just focused on the national team.”

Asked if he was heartened by City’s interest, he said: “It is good to hear.

“Why not (join Manchester City)? Every player wants to play Champions League, it is a wish of every player. So, if you get that opportunity ...?

“I’m just taking things step by step. Now, it is just national team. I am waiting like you.”

Asked if any other clubs were interested in signing Bony, Kacou said: “There are rumours about other things but it is City at the moment.

“There are some small details about money but I think things will be all right in a few days.

“I’m flying with him to Abu Dhabi and let’s see what will happen.”

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

This is the problem with having too many African players. Too much reliance on too many of them could cost a season.

In a way, I quite like his first name and, especially it's shortened version.

Seems like a throwback to an earlier age of tough, 'hard-men' footballers who had names such as Wilf Copping etc.
